Dear Churchill Road Families,
What a beautiful day for our PTA family movie night. We hope to see many of you later tonight for a showing of Sing 2 in our own backyard!
This week, students worked diligently on assessments that will help us understand their needs and enable teachers to tailor lessons to target specific skills. Teachers will be working specifically with this data to ensure we support students by name and by need. We are also excited with the communities that are being built within the individual classrooms. Morning meetings are a highlight each and every day as students start the day interacting with one another and building these strong relationships! Overall, it was a great week filled with fun learning experiences.

Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) Parent Information Session
A parent information session will be held virtually on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 @ 1 p.m.-2 p.m. An overview of the levels of AAP services and the identification & screening for Level IV services will be shared. Please visit AAP Parent Information Meeting Link to register for the Zoom session. A recording of the presentation will be made available for parents unable to attend the virtual session.

Please note for families (grades 3-6) new to FCPS boundaries as of January 1, 2022, the Fall 2022 parent referral due date is October 15, 2022.
For current FCPS families in grades 2-6, the parent referral due date is December 15, 2022.

Forms for the 2022-2023 School Year
Thank you to all the families who have already completed student forms for the 2022-2023 school year. If you have not already done so, the list of required forms, as well as optional opt-out forms is listed below.

Emergency Care Form (required): Emergency Care information can be updated as needed through SIS ParentVue. Instructions to update this information can be found on the FCPS website. In the application, review the details under ‘Student Info’.

Health Form (required): Health information can be updated as needed through SIS ParentVue

Students Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R) (required): While use of SIS ParentVUE to digitally sign the SR&R acknowledgement is preferred, parents/guardians may elect to download and print the SR&R Parent/Guardian Signature Sheet from the FCPS public website. If a parent/guardian needs assistance accessing the signature sheet, they may contact their child’s school and ask that the school provide the form. The SR&R Parent/Guardian Signature Sheet is due September 30, 2022.

FLE Opt-Out Form (only if opting out): This form is not required-please complete the form only if you do not want your student to participate and return it to the school.

2022-23 Annual Notice: Survey, Records, Curriculum, Privacy, and Related Rights and Opt-Out Forms: In its Annual Notice of Survey, Records, Curriculum, Privacy, and Related Rights and Opt-Out Forms (Annual Notice), FCPS provides explanations of the student and family privacy rights as well as forms that may be used to exercise opt-out choices. Two versions of the Annual Notice are available—a grades K-8 version and a grades 9-12 version. Parents with children at different grade levels should read each applicable version of the Annual Notice because the notices and opt-out rights vary depending on the student’s grade level.
Come See Artwork by Churchill Road Students at MPAartfest—McLean’s only outdoor arts festival!
McLean Central Park will come to life Sunday, October 2, 2022 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm when MPAartfest returns with a day full of art, music, food and fun.
View the work of young artists from McLean area schools as you stroll through the Children’s ArtWalk, sponsored by the McLean Community Foundation. Students whose work is featured in the ArtWalk have been contacted and will receive a certificate in VIP folders.
Churchill Road Art Teacher, Mrs. Wallace, was selected to be a featured artist at the event this year and will have a booth of her artwork on display. Stop by and say hello!
