Homecoming 2022: Lights, Camera, HOCO!

Homecoming Week is right around the corner!  See below for more information about the fun, spirited events our SGA has planned.

If you have any questions regarding our Homecoming Week events, please contact our SGA Sponsors, Mrs. Jonsson (smjonsson@fcps.edu) and Mr. Alukonis (jaalukonis@fcps.edu).

Spirit Week: September 19-23

Get in the Homecoming spirit by participating in our Hollywood-themed Spirit Days throughout the week!

  • Monday: Virtual Oscars Day – pair something formal on top with pajamas on the bottom.
  • Tuesday: Stunt Double Day – find yourself a stunt double for this Twin Day.
  • Wednesday: California Vacation – dress as a tourist, let’s head to Hollywood!
  • Thursday: Class Colors – freshmen-gray, sophomores-white, juniors-orange, seniors-navy blue
  • Friday: Flashing Lights Friday – students dress like the paparazzi in all black and sunglasses, while our staff members dress like celebrities/famous look-a-likes.

Hallway Decorating: Wednesday, September 21

Join us for a friendly class competition as each grade level decorates a hallway. We will meet beginning at 5:45pm in the Sports Lobby. Classes can begin decorating at 6:00pm and have 90 minutes to show us their best Hollywood themed hallways! Judges will score hallways at 7:30pm while students enjoy refreshments, and the winner will be announced shortly after.

Pep Rally: Thursday, September 22

We will recognize our Homecoming Court and fall sports at our first pep rally of the year. Students will receive more information about the pep rally from their Advisory teacher.

Homecoming Parade: Friday, September 23

Don’t miss out on your chance to see our class floats, Homecoming Court, and a variety of our sports teams, clubs, and organizations. The parade begins at 4:30pm; find a spot anywhere along our parade route. We start at Kirkwood Presbyterian Church and continue left onto Carleigh Parkway, left onto Forrester Boulevard, left onto Sherborn Lane, Right onto Grigsby, and finally cross over Rolling Road and return to WSHS. This is a great event for all community members – adults and kids alike!

Homecoming Tailgate: Friday, September 23

All are welcome at our Homecoming Tailgate in the main parking lot after the parade. We will have free burgers and hot dogs beginning at approximately 5:30pm. Be sure to come prepared for the game and wear ORANGE.

Game Day

Homecoming Football Game (ORANGE OUT): Friday, September 23

Let’s pack the stands as the Spartans take on the Hayfield Hawks at 7:00pm in the stadium. Don’t miss the halftime show where we will present our Homecoming Court, name our Homecoming Royalty, and announce the winning class float.

Beat the lines and buy your ticket in advance! Tickets can be purchased any time the day of the game.
