Cameron ES Interim Assistant Principal

Please join us and welcome our Interim Assistant Principal,  Kristin Bennink who began at Cameron on August 23rd and will be with us until further notice. Mrs. Bennink currently works in FCPS Office of School Supports in Region 1 schools. Mrs. Bennink has served in the role as Assistant Principal at Washington Mills Elementary and Bonnie Brae Elementary in FCPS.

Meet Our Librarian!

Mrs. Migliorini, or "Mrs. Migs," is new to the Cameron community this year. As part of a Coast Guard family, she has spent her career in elementary schools around the country and joins us from Tampa, Florida. After several years as a classroom teacher, Mrs. Migs was excited to get her Masters degree in Library Media Education and has spent the last 9 years as a school librarian, which she believes is the best job in the school. She is passionate about fostering joyful reading experiences for all students and providing instruction that guides them to be resourceful, responsible learners. When Mrs. Migs is not at school, she enjoys running, reading (of course), and spending time with her husband, 3 kids, and their adorable bulldog, Watson.

Dear Cameron Families 

You are wonderful care givers! Constantly putting ahead of your needs, the needs of your children. Self-care is forgotten, we need to recharge our batteries to keep going. See below some things you can do this month for self-care; please consider checking out and do one thing of this list every day, you will see the difference. Our counselors at Cameron are working on our School Wide Awareness Week for September 19 to 23 on Sleep Health. Please look for more information on that topic on my weekly column.

Signed SR&R Form Due September 30 

FCPS’ updated Student Rights & Responsibility (SR&R) booklet is now available online and in the ParentVue section of the Student Information System (SIS). The SR&R booklet explains expectations for student behavior, and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment. 

Each year, families must review, sign, and return the SR&R to their child’s school. Paper forms went home in the first day folder; families may sign the paper form or sign electronically in SIS ParentVue.  Every parent/guardian with a ParentVUE account will see the SR&R upon login to ParentVUE until the SR&R acknowledgement has been completed.

Please take a moment to log into ParentVue in your child’s SIS account to access the SR&R. Signatures are due by September 30, 2022.  Students cannot take their laptop home until they have a signed SRR.

September is Attendance Awareness Month. Some of the ways parents can help their children create healthy routines and a habit of getting to school on time every day include: 

  • Set a regular bedtime and morning routine. (Need help? Download this checklist in English or Spanish.)
  • Lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before.
  • If your child seems anxious about going to school, talk to teachers, school counselors, or other parents for advice on how to make them feel comfortable and excited about learning.
  • Develop back-up plans for getting to school if something comes up. Call on a family member, a neighbor, or another parent.
  • When possible, avoid medical appointments or extended trips when school is in session.
