Did You Know...

Does your teen know what to do with an intoxicated friend? Here are a few signs of alcohol poisoning mental confusion, difficulty remaining conscious, or inability to wake up, blackout -the brain’s inability to make new memories the person is awake but repeats stories, vomiting. Even if a person is passed out, alcohol is still being processed and the BAC could continue to rise.  Help your teen understand the importance of getting their friend help, water, coffee, walking will not make a person sober, call 911. Here is a tip sheet to better understand alcohol overdose.

Partners in Safe Teen Driving Seminar (PSTD)

Monday, September 12

Partners in Safe Teen Driving Seminar will be held in-person from 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the auditorium. Please arrive early.

Doors will close promptly at 6:30. Attendees who arrive late will not be allowed entry and will not earn credit for attending.

Support Langley by Supporting our Langley HS PTSA

While you are in the building for Back To School Night, please take the opportunity to see for yourself what the Langley HS PTSA has done to support the students and teachers at Langley. Your tour may include:

  • The stone structuring holding up Langley’s digital sign along Georgetown Pike
  • A look at the landscaping and umbrellas in the school’s multiple interior courtyards
  • Checking out lab equipment, including the cordless LED stereo microscope, while sitting in science class.
  • If your child is in one of Langley’s performing arts classes, chatting with the teachers about the instruments and other support their programs receive from the PTSA.
  • Practicing writing characters in Japanese class on iPads funded by the PTSA.
  • A peek in the gym where Langley juniors and seniors will get to hear former professional basketball player, Chris Herren, speak about substance abuse and wellness.
  • Taking a rest on the furniture in the common areas between classes.
  • And much, much more….

Your annual membership and donation dollars enable the PTSA to help support and enrich the student and teacher experience at Langley and to provide many items and opportunities for our school that wouldn’t otherwise be possible. Thanks for your support!

9th grade only: Expunging HS courses taken in Middle School

Per Regulation 2408, current 9th grade students who have taken a High School Credit bearing course in Middle School may expunge this course from the official transcript should they wish, however this must be done prior to the completion of the first 9 weeks of next year.  NO ACTION IS REQUIRED UNLESS YOU WISH TO EXPUNGE THIS GRADE. Should you wish to expunge the following course please complete the “Request to Expunge High School Credit” form, found here: https://www.fcps.edu/sites/default/files/media/forms/is104.pdf


Save the Date! Financial Aid Night

Langley and McLean HS are holding a joint financial aid night event on Tuesday, October 25th at 6:30 p.m. in the Langley HS Auditorium. Come learn more about the FAFSA, CSS profile, scholarships, and paying for post-secondary education.  Students and parents are welcome to attend. 


Community Conversations with Dr. Reid

Dr. Michelle Reid is hosting Community Conversations across the division to get to know our communities. Dr. Reid will be at Langley on Wednesday, October 26 from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. For additional information and to register click here. 


Reflections Contest "Show Your Voice" 

Consider this year's Reflections theme "Show Your Voice!" and decide which category (or categories) you would like to enter.

Express who you are and why your voice matters!

Create your masterpiece in Visual Arts, Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Photography or Music Composition.

Express your creativity and compete at school, regional, state and national levels.

The deadline is on October 21, 2022.
