Dear GBE Families,
I hope everyone enjoyed the Labor Day weekend! I am very proud of all the amazing work of our staff, students, and families to start our school year strong. The Summer Block Party, Building Tours, and Open House were very successful in welcoming our over 880 students to GBE!
I want to commend our staff for two excellent hybrid Back to School Nights! We hope the evening provided an opportunity to learn more about your child’s classroom and a chance to connect with our staff. Everyone worked very hard to make our Back to School Nights accessible to all families. Thank you for attending and starting our partnership as we support our students this new school year.
We are excited for the new school year ahead. Our school team and PTA are always looking for parent volunteers as we launch new events and programs. Please reach out to Ms. Albani, Family Liaison, to learn more! I will host my first Concurrent Coffee of the school year on September 16th. I hope you can join!

¡Quiero felicitar a nuestro personal por dos excelentes noches híbridas de regreso a la escuela! Esperamos que la noche haya brindado la oportunidad de aprender más sobre el salón de clases de su hijo y la oportunidad de conectarse con nuestro personal. Todos trabajaron muy duro para que nuestras Noches de Regreso a la Escuela fueran accesibles para todas las familias. GBE School Picture Day
Monday, September 12th
Monday, September 12, 2022, is GBE School Picture Day for all students. It’s that time of the year again to capture school memories with portraits by Lifetouch. An order form was sent home in your child’s Wednesday Folder today, to explain detailed information as well as the payment envelope. Additional order forms will be available in the front office. Please do not send payments in until the day of pictures.

Hello Roadrunners,
As you may have seen periodically during the summer GBE newsletters, a community project was initiated to beautify entrance #13. This entrance is a focal point for our student community who walk and bicycle to school. I am happy to share with you that this community funded campaign via GoFundMe was able to complete on-time. Entrance #13 now sports a new GBE logo on the utility fence, a facelift for the shed, refreshed paint for the bicycle rack, two tree plantings and two shrub plantings along with a lot of TLC applied to the landscaping.
I wanted to take a moment to thank Principal Pietzman and Heather Williams for their support and partnership as well as all our community contributors, but especially the hard work of:

Free and Reduced Meal Information
For the past two years, the federal government has provided no-cost meals to all public school students without the need to complete the annual Free and Reduced-Price Meal application.
IMPORTANT: Families must submit an application and be approved to be eligible for free and reduced-price meals for the 2022-23 school year. The application for the Free and Reduced-Price Meal program is now available online.

FOCUS ON ATTENDANCE
Regular attendance is vital for student success. When students attend regularly, starting as early as preschool and kindergarten, they have an opportunity to achieve academically and thrive.
Important Reminders
Greenbriar East uses PickUp Patrol for parents to report absences, late arrivals, and early pick-ups.
GBE values PickUp Patrol as it ensures a safe dismissal for all students based on the child's default plan. Please use the link here.
To update your child's default plan to "bus rider", "kiss and ride", or "walker," simply log in and select a dismissal option. Then hit submit and that’s it! Your child's teacher and the main office will be notified. Updating your child's default plan is a one-time action. Use PickUp Patrol regularly to report a plan change, absence, late arrival, or early pick-up. A default plan is NEEDED for all students.
ALL PLAN CHANGES MUST BE SUBMITTED BY 2:15 P.M.
