Attendance Awareness Month

The beginning of the school year is the best time to develop strong attendance habits. Students who attend school regularly are more likely to perform well in reading and math, develop strong social and emotional skills, and graduate from high school on time. Help prepare your child for future success by visiting

The Robinson Secondary Band & Orchestra’s Annual Tag Day

Hello, Robinson Families,

Every Monday during advisory, Robinson Students and Staff participate in Rams READ. Rams READ is a time when the entire school stops to read choice material – books, magazines, newspapers, eBooks, etc. Choice reading is one of the most effective ways to improve students’ literacy skills! Please support RAMS READ time by encouraging your students to bring choice materials to school and participate during Rams Read. Resources: ** If students are looking for a great read, they can browse this site for reading recommendations: https://robinsonss-fcps.libguides.com/finding-your-next-book ** Students may also access items digitally, by visiting the Rams Read choice board: https://robinsonss-fcps.libguides.com/finding-your-next-book/rams-read Happy Reading!

Middle School Battle of the Books

Battle of the Books

Are you a middle school student who loves to read and who also loves competition? If so, you may be interested in joining the new middle school club, Battle of the Books. Battle of the Books is a competitive reading club which will meet every other Thursday after school in the library. The interest meeting is Thursday, Sept. 15 at 3pm; late buses are provided. This is not a drop-in club in that students will be in collaborative teams to prepare for our school "battle" in the spring. The winning team will then represent Robinson at the FCPS county-wide "battle" in June! So, come to the Battle of the Books interest meeting on Thursday, Sept. 15 at 3pm in the library to learn what it is all about!

Social Worker Spotlight

by Kristen Licciardo, MSW, School Social Worker

Who is your school social worker? This is my eleventh year working as a school social worker. This is my eighth year at Robinson! I have been working as a social worker with children and families for 27 years. I attended California State University, Northridge and received my Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development. I completed my Master’s Degree in Social Work at the University of Southern California. I spent the early part of my career working with children and families in mental health settings, including residential treatment centers, day treatment programs, non-public schools, and outpatient therapy programs. In California, I also worked as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker doing private practice. I relocated to Northern Virginia in 2009 and have enjoyed living on the east coast with my husband and two children, one in middle school and one in high school! What does your school social worker do? I provide support to children and families in the areas of mental health, accessing community resources, basic needs, and special education. I partner with our school teams and counselors to ensure all students are achieving their full academic, social and emotional potential. What is Social Work Spotlight? I will highlighting anything and all social work related information…an inspirational story I have come across, a book I am reading, resources in the community, special events, etc… sometimes, just a great quote for the week!

The Student Services staff is here to help you in any way we can.  Please note that students cannot leave class or lunch to see their counselor without an appointment and a pass.  If they need assistance, we encourage them to email our Student Services staff to request an appointment.  If there is an emergency, their teacher will call the subschool office for assistance.
