A Note from Dr. Goodloe
Rocky Run Families and Students,
What a great week at Rocky Run MS. We are grateful that so many families joined our live Back to School presentations and viewed our staff videos this week. If you have not had a chance to do so, please take a look at the resources posted on our website (links below) and view your child's teachers' videos. Don't hesitate to reach out with questions and suggestions for how we can support your child's growth.
We had many questions about lost and forgotten items in our sessions and I have shared some information to assist you.
Lost and Found Information
- Items such as clothing, water bottles, lunch boxes and umbrellas that have been left behind are kept in our cafeteria Lost and Found (see picture below). Students are frequently reminded to check for lost items.
- Items of significant monetary value such as eyeglasses, electronics and instruments are kept in the main office until claimed.
- Items in the lost and found are cleared out and donated several times per year to organizations in our community.
Forgotten Items - reminder!
- We recognize that middle school students sometimes forget items for school such as their lunch, instrument, homework, laptop.
- Teachers are very understanding and will work with students to support their organization and help them make up any missed activities.
- Students have access to loaner laptops for access to classroom instruction.
- A variety of lunch choices are available in the cafeteria daily that address most dietary needs. We ask that you please do not deliver lunch to school either packed from home or purchased when a student has forgotten lunch. In a school of over 900 students, with three daily lunches, it is very difficult to ensure that a student will be notified to pick up a lunch in time for their lunch period. Outside competitive (i.e. fast food) foods are not allowed in FCPS.
Please encourage your child to check the lost and found regularly if they are missing items. We appreciate your support in developing organizational and planning skills in our students. If you have specific concerns related to your child, please contact their school counselor.
I welcome your feedback, questions, and ideas. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me at any time.
Together WE are RAM STRONG!
Thank you,
Amy Goodloe, Ed.D.
