Anxious While Testing?!

Thinking is not like a light switch. Performance is not simply about skills and knowledge. In this talk with Ned Johnson, test prep geek at PrepMatters and co-author of Conquering the SATThe Self-Driven Child, and What Do You Say?, learn the neuroscience and psychology that explains why bright, academic students often stumble under the pressure of school and standardized tests. Most importantly, Ned will share how parents can help and what students can do before and during those high-stress moments.

Bringing the Community Together for an

Evening of Fun & Entertainment

 

When: This Friday, September 9th from 4.00pm to 6.30pm

What: McLean High Open House & Community Celebration

Join the Community Celebration in the Football Practice Field! Learn about various student-run clubs and meet and greet your student’s teachers in the McLean High School. The Virtual Back to School program is online (watch it here).

There will be loads of entertainment from Talk of the Town activities, food trucks, and music by DJ. For more details, click here. Enjoy the fun with your family and friends!

Who: All families of McLean High and feeder schools are Invited & Welcome!

Mock SAT and ACT Tests

(September/October/November)

The McLean PTSA & EC Tutoring are partnering to offer the SAT and ACT practice tests. These tests are available to students at area schools for $20.

*** Please remember to identify yourself as an MHS student on the registration form to ensure that the PTSA receives credit; the fees support our programs.

Art Competition: The Theme for the 2022-23 School Year is "Show Your Voice!"

For over 50 years, National PTA’s Reflections program has helped students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life. 

Students can create theme-based artwork in dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, or visual arts.

2022 Congressional App Challenge

The 2022 Congressional App Challenge has begun!

This challenge deadline is November 1st and offers middle school and high school students interested in coding a chance to enhance their skills and interests in computer science and STEM.

Local judges will evaluate the student submissions and choose a winning individual or team.
