Dear Clearview Families,
Clearview Yellow Jackets continued to thrive during our second week of school! They have been busy building relationships, developing a classroom community, creating classroom expectations, practicing routines and procedures, reviewing academic concepts, and learning new concepts. We continue to be in awe of their kindness and love of learning.
Tomorrow, Friday, Sept, 2, and Monday, Sept. 5, are Labor Day holidays for all FCPS employees and students. Virginia legislation requires that schools opening prior to Labor Day must be closed the Friday immediately preceding Labor Day. We hope everyone takes the long weekend to celebrate a strong start to the school year and enjoy time with family and friends.

Kiss & Ride
If you are driving your child to and/or from school, please continue to use Kiss & Ride. There are staff members at Kiss & Ride to ensure students enter the school safely. Ten school buses enter and exit the bus loop at the front of the school each morning and afternoon so please do not drop students off in front of the school. If you use Kiss and Ride in the afternoons, we ask you to arrive at 3:30 or later. The FCPD Crossing Guard has made this request to alleviate congestion on Builders Road. Thank you for your cooperation.
Update Emergency Care Contacts in SIS
At Clearview, we are committed to safety and security. In support of this goal, FCPS provides weCare@school (weCare), an emergency care information system available to FCPS parents and guardians who have registered for their own Parent account.
FCPS weCare helps manage emergency medical information by enabling parents to go online to enter and update their children’s medical data at their convenience. Contact information provided automatically enrolls parents to receive eNotify communications from the district and their child’s school. eNotify is the communications tool for FCPS emergency, transportation, attendance, weather closings and delays, and essential outreach messages. Messages are sent via email and text messages. Occasional phone messages are sent as well.
Get more information about updating your emergency care information.
Trust Policy Approved
Fairfax County School Board approved a Trust Policy that solidifies our commitment to foster a caring culture and strives to provide a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space for all students and families.
This policy aligns with Fairfax County’s Public Trust and Confidentiality Policy to ensure that FCPS students and families can access FCPS benefits and services without fear that information will be disclosed, directly or indirectly, to federal immigration officials.
Additional information is available in multiple languages on FCPS’ Trust Policy webpage.
Family Life Education
Instructional Program Information
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) provides a comprehensive, sequential Family Life Education (FLE) program for students in grades kindergarten through grade twelve. Instruction is seen as a partnership among parents and guardians, the school, and the community in supporting the learning essential to the development of strong families, positive relationships, and a healthy community.
Parents/guardians may choose to opt their child out of all or part of the Family Life Education program. Students who are opted out are provided with age-appropriate, nonpunitive alternative health instruction, and every effort is made to foster respect for family choices. If you wish to opt your child out of all or part of FLE for this school year, opt out forms were included in your child’s back-to-school/orientation packets and are available online for Elementary (K-6). Please fill in the opt-out form and return it to school prior to Family Life Education instruction.
Detailed grade-level program descriptions are available online at Elementary (K-6). FLE grade level-specific lessons and media that FCPS has streaming rights for are available for parents online in Schoology. Parents/guardians login to Schoology using the same username and password as their Student Information System (SIS) Parent account. Grade level-specific lessons are also available at the City of Fairfax Regional Library (this location does not have media). Grade level-specific lessons and media that is not streamed online are available for review at Clearview’s library. Due to copyright permissions, we are unable to stream all media online.
Program questions may be addressed by contacting Assistant Principal, Mr. Joshua Redford at Clearview or Instructional Services at 571-423-4550 or fle@fcps.edu.
Gun Safety and Safe Gun Storage
Providing students and staff with a safe educational environment remains our top priority. Sadly, gun violence continues to impact schools and communities across our nation.
As you may be aware, lessons on gun safety are already built into our curriculum; however, it is critical that all parents and guardians talk to their children about the importance of gun safety and safe gun storage in your homes, and any homes that your children may visit.
Our website has resources for parents about gun safety as well as detailed information about FCPS safety and security practices in our buildings.
Anonymous Tip Line Puts Safety First
If you or your child have concerns or information relating to feeling unsafe in any way at school, the FCPS Office of Safety and Security has a safety tip line that you can access anonymously online, by text (888-777; Keyword TIP FCPS), or by phone (571-423-2020).
If your tip is an emergency and immediate assistance is necessary, please dial 911.
Students, staff, and community members should report school safety issues such as threats, unsafe or dangerous situations, illegal drug activity, theft, gang activity, the existence of weapons, vandalism, and concerns about student wellness. Tip line users may identify themselves or remain anonymous.Concerns that do not impact the safety of our schools—concerns or information about programs, regulations, or policies—can be sent to the FCPS ombudsman online, at 571-423-4014, or ombudsman@fcps.edu.

Headphones for school
If you can, please have your student bring in a set of headphones for their school laptops.
If you need any assistance or have any questions please reach out to our school based technology specialist, Mr. Newbold, at mcnewbold@fcps.edu.
Lightspeed Parent Report on Child’s
Device Activity

These tools are provided by Lightspeed, our internet content filtering service, at no cost to families. You may sign up for a weekly Parent Report, which will provide a list of the top sites your child visited. If you want more detailed information, sign up for the Internet Use Parent portal and log-in anytime to see more detail about your child’s browsing and “pause” access to the internet during non-school hours.

 Time to join the PTA!
Anyone can join the Clearview PTA...parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and community members! Membership is $15 for a family, $10 for a single membership, and $5 for Clearview staff. Access this online form and use our school code HA88NV when registering. Becoming a member means you’ll receive important updates and stay in the know.
Volunteers are always needed!
We’ve had a couple of families reach out to offer to serve as volunteers this year—thank you so much! We’re still looking for helping hands to coordinate and run fundraisers like Spirit Nights, Bake Sales, Costume Bingo (October), Silent Auction (April), and 5K & Fun (May). We also need help with coordinating and running events like Make It, Take It (December), Staff Appreciation Week (May), and 6th Grade Basketball Game (Spring). We want to see these traditions continue, but we need your help! We’ll periodically send home a “Helping Hands” flyer in Tuesday Folders that you can return to your child’s teacher.
Mark your calendars - Let's Meet!
Join us for PTA meetings on the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. Meet us in the Clearview library or join us via Zoom. Anyone can attend, and it’s a great way to stay in the know!
