Seniors Only - SAT School Day Information - Intent to Participate Form Due Wednesday, September 7th
Senior parents/students: Please refer to the email sent on Monday, August 15th at 2pm regarding SAT School Day.
This year, the test will be administered on Wednesday, October 12th.
To guarantee participation in SAT School Day exams, students must submit their online intent form by Wednesday, September 7th.
Your student will need to use a @fcpsschools.net email account to access and complete this form.
FCPS sites cannot accept walk-ins on the day of the exam.
If you have questions about the SAT School Day administration at Woodson High School, please contact Kathleen Crosson at kpcrosson@fcps.edu.
Consent for Select Digital Resources
Teachers will use a variety of digital resources to support student learning and promote communication and collaboration with students and families. Some of the digital resources your child may use this year will require your consent before they can be used. You can find our school’s list of the resources that require parental consent here. More information about approved digital resources in FCPS can be found here.
Included on this page is a link to a form where the enrolling parent or guardian will need to indicate whether or not their student is allowed to use the list of digital resources this year. This page also provides more information about how FCPS carefully reviews digital resources for approval and why we must request your consent before using certain tools. We encourage you to complete the parental consent for digital resources form as soon as possible, as your child will not be able to use the digital resources until we have received your permission. Please reach out to your teachers and counselors if you have questions or concerns about the digital resources we’ve chosen to use this year.
Cav Kick-off Dance
The Cav Kick-off dance will happen on Friday, September 9th, immediately following the first home football game.
The cost of the dance is $1 and it will take place in the Auxiliary Gym. This annual tradition celebrates the opening of school and is a great way to finish off a Friday night of cheering.
The dance begins at 9:15pm or at the end of the football game (whichever comes first) and ends promptly at 11:00pm.
Admission is collected at the door.
Student Parking Passes - ENFORCEMENT BEGINS NEXT MONDAY, SEPT 12
There are 2 steps to purchase a student parking pass: 1) Complete the Parking Permit Application 2) Pay on MySchoolBucks. Navigate to the School Store, select the option for a parking permit, and check out. Bring your printed receipt with you when picking up your permit. Click here for the Woodson Student Parking website
Lunch Options for Students
This year, we are offering several different eating locations for students including Cafeteria A, Cafeteria B, the small courtyard between the two cafeterias, the large outdoor space behind Cafeteria A, and the hallway outside of the cafeterias.
To ensure ample seating areas, we have added additional tables to the cafeterias and outside eating areas, as well as removed the vending machines. In addition to these seating areas, students may get a pass to spend the lunch period in the Library.
In the event of inclement weather, we have plans to pull our staff member who covers the interior outdoor lunch area into the indoor auditorium lobby, allowing students an additional indoor space to eat.

FCPS NEWS & EVENTS
Notification of Testing - Math and Reading Inventory
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) uses the Math Inventory and Reading Inventory with students in grades 7-12 to determine students’ strengths and needs in mathematics and literacy.
- Students enrolled in Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 and Algebra Functions and Data Analysis will participate in the Math Inventory (MI).
- Students enrolled in English 9-12 will participate in the Reading Intervention (RI).
The purpose of these assessments is to identify students who may benefit from additional support with literacy and mathematics skills. In addition, school teams will consider assessment results as they plan instruction for your student.
The assessments are administered during the month of September. Depending on grade level and initial performance, students may participate in follow-up assessment in the winter and/or in the spring. Additional information about these assessments can be found at the following webpages:
If you have further questions about these assessments, please contact your student’s English or mathematics teacher.
Family Life Education - Information and Opt-Out Forms
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) provides a comprehensive, sequential Family Life Education (FLE) program for students in grades kindergarten through grade twelve. Instruction is seen as a partnership among parents and guardians, the school, and the community in supporting the learning essential to the development of strong families, positive relationships, and a healthy community.
If you would like to view the FLE materials, please fill out this form. Blair Smith, Director of Student Activities, will set up a time for you to come in and view hard copies for each grade level of FLE materials.
Parents/guardians may choose to opt their child out of all or part of the Family Life Education program. Students who are opted out are provided with age-appropriate, nonpunitive alternative health instruction, and every effort is made to foster respect for family choices. If you wish to opt your child out of all or part of FLE for this school year, please complete the opt-out forms located on the FCPS website. Completed opt-out forms can be returned to the school main office.
Detailed grade-level program descriptions are available online at High School (9-12). FLE grade level-specific lessons and media that FCPS has streaming rights for are available for parents online in Schoology. Parents/guardians login to Schoology using the same username and password as their Student Information System (SIS) Parent account. Grade level-specific lessons are also available at the City of Fairfax Regional Library (this location does not have media). Grade level-specific lessons and media that is not streamed online are available for review at your child’s school library. Due to copyright permissions, we are unable to stream all media online.
Program questions may be addressed at your child’s school or by contacting Instructional Services at 571-423-4550 or by contacting Carrie Reynolds, Health and Physical Education Coordinator at cfreynolds@fcps.edu.
