Watch Messages for Mustangs from Ms. Dade
It has been another great week with our little Mustangs! Thanks to all the teachers and families who made Back-to-School Night so special. Families, please click here for a special message from Ms. Dade!
Message from Our New Assistant Principal, Ms. O’Bryant
Hello McNair Family! My name is Brandy O’Bryant, and I am so excited to be named the assistant principal at McNair Elementary School.
I have a passion for education and children. For the last three years, I have served as an instructional coach at Willow Springs Elementary School. Before that, I was a classroom teacher in 4th, 5th, and 1st grade and an interventionist for math and reading. I value building strong relationships with students, teachers, and families.
Outside school, I enjoy spending time with family, especially with my two sons. One just turned 11 and keeps me busy with baseball, and I am a very proud Air Force mom to my 19-year-old. I also enjoy reading and traveling.
I am excited to begin building relationships and getting to know the McNair community this school year!
Warmly,
Brandy M. O’Bryant
Assistant Principal, McNair Elementary

Arrival and Dismissal Safety Announcement
Kiss and Ride
For the safety of all students, only kindergarten through 2nd-grade families, dropping off students from their vehicles should enter our Kiss & Ride traffic loop.
We ask that all families using Kiss & Ride adhere to the following:
- Remain in your vehicle at all times.
- Students should be able to exit and enter the vehicle independently on the passenger side of the vehicle.
- Students should ONLY exit and enter the vehicle at the unloading/loading zone (the white-lined area). Our staff are positioned in this area to ensure student safety and help students exit and enter vehicles.
- Register your child for Kiss & Ride here.
If you plan to drive to school and walk your child up to the building, please utilize an alternate parking location. We limit this parking lot to Kiss & Ride drop-off and pick-up only to ensure student safety. Families and students should not walk between vehicles in our Kiss & Ride line. All preschool and pre-k families should park in an alternate area and walk their child to meet their teacher.
Thank you all for helping us keep our little Mustangs safe.
Health Screen Your Child Daily
Help us keep all our Mustangs healthy and at school by screening your child daily using this form. If your child presents with any of these symptoms or is just not feeling well, please keep them home. This is a great way to support our efforts to keep everyone safe!
COVID-19 Testing
COVID-19 diagnostic testing is available at no cost for all currently enrolled FCPS students on select dates throughout the year when transmission may be highest. Diagnostic testing is provided at designated times and locations for those who are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or have been in close contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19.
Testing will be available September 6-8 and 12-14. Visit the testing website for information on locations and how to register for an appointment.
 FCPS Parent Information Lines
Parents who speak Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Spanish, Urdu, or Vietnamese can call a telephone information line for general information about FCPS and to receive support if they are having difficulty communicating with their children's schools due to a language barrier.
Student Rights & Responsibilities
We are extremely happy to have your child in our school with us this year!
FCPS’ updated Student Rights & Responsibility booklet is now available online and in the ParentVue section of the Student Information System (SIS). The SR&R booklet explains expectations for student behavior, and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment.
Each year, we ask parents to review, sign, and return the SR&R to their child’s school. In ParentVue, you may now download and digitally sign the SR&R. Every parent/guardian with a ParentVUE account will see the SR&R upon login to ParentVUE until the SR&R acknowledgement has been completed.
Remember, your name in the digital signature box must match the parent/guardian’s first and last name in SIS exactly before the signature will be accepted.
Please take a moment to log into ParentVue in your child’s SIS account to access the SR&R. Signatures are due by September 30, 2022.
Contact Ms. Hosseini, Registrar, at ahosseini@fcps.edu if you are having difficulty accessing SIS ParentVue.

The McNair PTA Needs You!
Over the years, McNair has had a very robust PTA that has supported students by providing afterschool clubs for enrichment as well as materials for students and teachers during the school day. The PTA is still looking for member support to help with all the fun and education initiatives they take on during the year.
