We are excited to start after school activities and late buses on Wednesday September 14th!
Panther Family,
My name is Riley Barrows, and I am the After-School Specialist at Rachel Carson Middle School. The purpose of this letter is to introduce you and your child to the After-School Program at Carson. Our goal is to provide quality programming in the areas of academic support and enrichment, social skills and youth development, physical health and wellness, and family and community involvement. After school activities and late buses will begin Wednesday September 14th. We will have late buses Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Buses will begin arriving at RCMS around 4:30. Please note, late bus numbers are different than the regular school day bus numbers. Please check the transportation website or Parent Vue for your child’s late bus number. Students can be picked up any time after school. If you are picking up your child, please use the kiss and ride loop.
How do I sign up for clubs?
Most clubs are walk in. Students can simply show up, sign in, and participate. However, some clubs require tryouts such as Debate, Model UN, Technology Student Association (TSA), and Science Bowl. The first club meeting for all clubs that require tryouts will be an interest meeting where club sponsors will go over the tryout/testing process. Interest meetings are for students only and the schedule is below. Additionally, some clubs such as Cooking and Futsal have a weekly capacity limit due to limited supplies, materials, space, etc. Students will have the opportunity to pre-register for these clubs.
