Message from the Principal

Dr. Maggie Grove

Dear Wolftrap Families,

What a wonderful week! The sounds of our students and teachers are filling the hallway, and it is music to our ears! Thank you for all of your support and questions this week. We will all continue to work on procedures as we move into our second week. Students will need to practice routines to feel comfortable and maximize learning!

Warmly,

Dr. Grove
Principal

Back to School Night

Remember to mark your calendars for our annual Back-to-School Night, which will be held on Thursday, September 15th from 6:00-8:00pm. This event is important for parents to attend, as you will receive information from your child’s teachers regarding grade level expectations and operation. I will also be hosting an opportunity for new families to attend New Family Coffee, that week, as well. Please join me as we discuss communication, ways to get involved, and answer questions for those who are new to our school. See our website for details. https://wolftrapes.fcps.edu/

Beginning of Year Forms

Please take a moment to fill out all the necessary beginning of the year forms, including opt-outs, emergency care contacts, and health information. There are also links to help you join the PTA, sign up for The Connection newsletter, and set up a Schoology account. Parents must also complete  a consent form for their students to use various digital resources at school. Please complete all these forms no later than September 16. If you have question, please contact the office.

Join the Pack - and Help Give Back

Have you ever wondered how you can help our teachers? Support your child's learning? Take part in making the school as great as it can be?

The biggest way to support and make an impact on our teachers, our school and our students is to JOIN the PTA and DONATE to Friends of Wolftrap.

Joining the PTA is the most effective and direct way to support the Wolftrap community. Here's how your contributions make an impact:

Teacher Support ● Classroom supplies and wish lists ● Specials equipment (art, PE, chorus, band, etc.) ● Resources and materials for the library, STEAM Lab and Reading room ● Teacher workroom support ● Teacher appreciation activities ●  Professional development ● Teacher grants

Student Support ● Enrichment programs ● Community building activities and resources ● Extracurricular programs ● Field trip busses ● Fun activities and events ● School Support

School Support ● Learning software ● Licenses to educational apps ● Classroom resources and learning subscriptions ● Outdoor improvements ● Recess equipment

Thank You

Without your generous support, none of this would be possible!

Remember, becoming a member does not mean you are required to volunteer. There is no wrong way to get involved - anything you give, whether its time or money, will support our school. For volunteer opportunities click here.

walking wednesdays

That's right, Walking Wednesdays are back!

Please encourage your child to walk or bike to school on Wednesdays starting this Wednesday, August 31st!

Upon arrival at school, students can check in with our volunteers, receive a special charm and help their grade compete for the Golden Sneaker Award, which is presented monthly to the grade with the most walkers or bikers.

In addition, each week coffee is generously donated by Caffe Amouri!
What could be better than socializing with other parents with a delicious cup of coffee?

Looking for Room Parents

Are you interested in helping out with your child's class? Each year, room parent volunteers assist with various efforts in the classroom and/or help outside of normal school hours. Here's what you do as a room parent:

  • Serve as a resource for the teachers when they need volunteers and/or classroom supplies.
  • Work with the teachers to organize class parties and special curriculum days (e.g., Virginia History Day in 4th grade).
  • Organize t-shirts for the entire grade to wear on field trips and other events.

We will be holding an information session once school gets underway. If you would like to attend and/or be contacted about specific room parent volunteer opportunities, please complete this form.
