Floris Families,

It was wonderful to see many parents at the Back to School Nights on Tuesday and Wednesday. We look forward to seeing 4th-6th grade parents tonight. We appreciate our teachers creating their presentations to share this important information. We also appreciate our families taking time to engage in these meetings to learn more about their children's learning experience this school year.

Fall Picture Day is scheduled for Tuesday, September 13. The forms from Lifetouch are coming home today in Friday Folders.

Please remember that there is no school tomorrow, Friday, September 2 and Monday, September 5 for the Labor Day Holiday.

Have a fabulous four-day weekend!

Holly Walker, Principal, hjwalker@fcps.edu

Rob Gibbs, Assistant Principal, ragibbs@fcps.edu

Parent SR&R Signature Due by September 30

FCPS’ updated Student Rights & Responsibility booklet is now available online and in the ParentVue section of the Student Information System (SIS). The SR&R booklet explains expectations for student behavior, and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment.

Each year, we ask parents to review, sign, and return the SR&R to their child’s school. In ParentVue, you may now download and digitally sign the SR&R. Every parent/guardian with a ParentVUE account will see the SR&R upon login to ParentVUE until the SR&R acknowledgement has been completed.

Once you log on, you will see the following message:

SR&R Parent Acknowledgement

Your name in the digital signature box must match the parent/guardian’s first and last name in SIS exactly before the signature will be accepted.

Please take a moment to log into ParentVue in your child’s SIS account to access the SR&R. Signatures are due by September 30, 2022.

Please contact us if you are having difficulty accessing the booklet.

Digital Tools

Digital Resources Consent

At Floris, we use a variety of digital tools to support meaningful student learning. Some of these tools require parental consent before they can be used.

If you have already provided consent - THANK YOU!  For those of you that have not, you can find our school’s list of the resources that require parental consent here: https://florises.fcps.edu/adopteddigitalresources.

After reviewing these resources, please complete 🔗 this form 🔗 to indicate whether or not your student is allowed to use the list of digital resources this year. Your child will not be able to use the digital resources until we have received your permission, so the sooner we can get the permission the better!

Please reach out to our School Based Technology Specialist, Willa McGrath (wimcgrath@fcps.edu) or your child's teacher if you have questions or concerns. THANK YOU!

Safety Drills

Each year our staff and students participate in a variety of safety drills. The required drills include:

  • Evacuation/Fire Drills- two in the first 20 days of school and then one per month through June 2023
  • Bus Evacuation Drills- one each semester
  • Lockdown Drills- Our first one will be September 8, and the second required drill will be in January 2023.
  • Tornado Drill- one in March 2023
