The meeting will be held on Thursday, September 1st at 5pm. All program materials and media for all grade levels will be available for your review at this time. Parents/guardians who do not wish to have their child participate in FLE instruction may choose to opt their child out of any or all of the lessons. If you would like to opt your child out of one or more lessons, please fill out the form provided to you in your child’s orientation packet at the beginning of the school year or you may access the opt out forms online at https://www.fcps.edu/academics/elementary-family-life-education-fle. If you have already indicated your desire to opt your child out of FLE lessons by using the form provided earlier in the school year, you do not need to complete another form. Should you opt your child out and then later decide you want your child included in FLE instruction, you must notify your child’s school principal in writing before instruction begins. An alternative non-FLE health instructional program is provided for children who do not take part in FLE instruction, and every effort is made to foster understanding and respect for family choices and to avoid peer pressure for or against participation in the program. Instruction of the instructional units occurs at various times during the school year. Please contact your child’s teacher for specific dates of FLE instruction. We look forward to working as your partner in providing information that will help your child make healthy choices related to the exciting changes and new challenges he/she will be facing in the next few years.
We are extremely happy to have your child in our school with us this year!
FCPS’ updated Student Rights & Responsibility booklet is now available online and in the ParentVue section of the Student Information System (SIS). The SR&R booklet explains expectations for student behavior, and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment.
Each year, we ask parents to review, sign, and return the SR&R to their child’s school. In ParentVue, you may now download and digitally sign the SR&R. Every parent/guardian with a ParentVUE account will see the SR&R upon login to ParentVUE until the SR&R acknowledgement has been completed.
Once you log on, you will see the following message:
Your name in the digital signature box must match the parent/guardian’s first and last name in SIS exactly before the signature will be accepted.
Please take a moment to log into ParentVue in your child’s SIS account to access the SR&R. Signatures are due by September 30, 2022.
Please contact us if you are having difficulty accessing the booklet.
Please be aware that all of us are getting used to new routines at the start of the school year. Thank you for your patience as those routines are established. If a student’s bus is delayed, parents may access the Bus Delay Notification System or use the Here Comes the Bus mobile app to receive the delayed bus report. e-Notify (School Messenger) email messages will also be sent to announce significant bus delays. For additional support, find the Transportation Services contact specific to your school. For any concerns after 5:30 p.m., contact Safety and Security at 571-423-2000.
Good afternoon McNair Elementary Families,
This message is a rebroadcast of a message sent, on January 26, 2022, regarding the updated walking boundary for McNair ES and McNair Upper ES. Please note: No transportation will be provided for the 2022-2023 school year for students who, as a result of the addition of a crossing guard at Fox Mill Rd & Greg Roy La, now reside in the walking boundary.
Original message:
At the beginning of January 2022, a crossing guard was added to the crosswalk at Fox Mill Rd & Greg Roy La for the students attending McNair ES and McNair Upper ES.
With the addition of the crossing guard and the FCPS assessed safe walking path, students currently assigned to bus routes MN-06 OB and MN-08 with assigned stop locations at FOX MILL RD & GREG ROY LA (MN-06OB); FOX MILL RD & FOX HUNT LA (MN-06OB); FOX MILL RD & MARCEY CREEK RD (MN-08) will now reside in the walking boundary for both McNair ES and McNair Upper ES schools.
FCPS bus service will continue for the above designated stop locations for the duration of the 2021-2022 school year. Beginning the 2022-2023 school year, these stops will be removed. Students previously assigned to these stop locations will be designated as walkers and will need to use the walking path and crosswalk to go to and from school.
If you have questions, please contact the Area 3 Transportation Office at 703-249-7000.
