What a week! We were thrilled to welcome our new families and returning families to Churchill Road for an exciting school year! It was wonderful to see so many parents and students at Open House, as well as smiling faces at Back to School Night. All of our Bobcats are so excited to be in school and are ready to learn!
We appreciate your support in preparing your child for the school year. You can continue to help us by developing routines at home in order to support your child’s learning.
We are looking forward to an outstanding school year! We’re committed to focusing on the positive and making Churchill Road Elementary School a place of joy.

Students' Rights & Responsibilities
We are extremely happy to have your child in our school with us this year!
FCPS’ updated Student Rights & Responsibility booklet is now available online and in the ParentVue section of the Student Information System (SIS). The SR&R booklet explains expectations for student behavior, and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment.
Each year, we ask parents to review, sign, and return the SR&R to their child’s school. In ParentVue, you may now download and digitally sign the SR&R. Every parent/guardian with a ParentVUE account will see the SR&R upon login to ParentVUE until the SR&R acknowledgement has been completed.
Your name in the digital signature box must match the parent/guardian’s first and last name in SIS exactly before the signature will be accepted.
Please take a moment to log into ParentVue in your child’s SIS account to access the SR&R. Signatures are due by September 30, 2022.

Nonprofit Flyer Distribution for the 2022-2023 School Year
As outlined by FCPS Regulation 1367.4, school principals shall offer options to nonprofit organizations that want to make their materials available to students and parents. At Churchill Road, non-profit organizations will be permitted to send home flyers in the take home folder 4 times during the year. The dates for the 2022-2023 school year are the weeks of September 16, December 2, March 2 and May 4. These fliers must be related to the school’s educational mission and be age-appropriate. Community organizations must submit their materials in advance to Kim Moran, kmoran2@fcps.edu, no later than the Friday before distribution. All flyers must include the disclaimer “These materials are neither sponsored nor endorsed by the Fairfax County School Board, the Superintendent, or this School.” Once approved, the organization will be required to make the copies necessary for distribution. Transportation Update
Please be aware that all of us are getting used to new routines at the start of the school year. Thank you for your patience as those routines are established. If a student’s bus is delayed, parents may access the Bus Delay Notification System or use the Here Comes the Bus mobile app to receive the delayed bus report. Contact the Transportation Office at 703-249-7100. For any concerns after hours (after 5:30 p.m.), contact Safety and Security at 571-423-2000.
Lightspeed Parent Report on
Child’s Device Activity
FCPS has tools to help parents and guardians know more about their child’s activity on any FCPS device. These tools are provided by Lightspeed, our internet content filtering service, at no cost to families. You may sign up for a weekly Parent Report, which will provide a list of the top sites your child visited. If you want more detailed information, sign up for the Internet Use Parent portal and log-in anytime to see more detail about your child’s browsing and “pause” access to the internet during non-school hours.
