A Message from Ms. Jankovich

Dear Sangster Families-

Happy Thursday! What an amazing start to the 2022 – 2023 school year!  I know I speak for the entire Sangster ES staff when I say seeing our students return has brought us so much joy.  Mrs. Redford, Ms. Kleiber, and I have spent the week going into classrooms and visiting students at lunch and recess. We have loved hearing how excited they are to see their friends and be back in school.  Thank you to all of you for your patience, especially with transportation, while we work out the first week kinks. Our top priority is that every single student gets home safely, every single day.  We are in constant communication with our transportation department to improve our practices.

I will be in touch soon with more information about Back-to-School Night, volunteering at Sangster, and our upcoming PTA events.

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you need anything!

Allison Jankovich

https://www.fcps.edu/resources/parent-communication-overview/wecareschoolHealth Information and Emergency Care Forms

The Health Information Form (HIF) (SS/SE -71) Health Information Form and the Emergency Care Information form (SS/SE-3) Emergency Care Information provide valuable information regarding student health conditions. These forms are critical in the early identification of students who may need healthcare support in the educational environment. Along with the development of Healthcare Plans (HCP) and Action Plans, the Public Health Nurses (PHNs) utilize the information contained in the HIF to develop teaching strategies for FCPS staff in order to meet the requirements of Regulation 2104 Health Services-School Health Related Needs.

For SY 22-23, these forms will be required for all students. Parents/guardians may submit these forms either through electronic submission accessed within the weCare@school module; or thorough Back to School packets for those families without ParentVue accounts.

Please contact your child's teacher with questions about these forms.

COVID/Health Updates

Please do not send your child to school if there are any signs or symptoms of being ill. We can keep students and staff healthy if we all do our part by staying home when not feeling well. The  FCPS Health and Safety Guidance document continues to be updated with the latest information.

Student Rights & Responsibilities (SR&R) Family Signature September 30th

FCPS’ updated Student Rights & Responsibility booklet is now available online and in the ParentVue section of the Student Information System (SIS). The SR&R booklet explains expectations for student behavior and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment.

Each year, parents/guardians must review, sign, and return the SR&R to their child’s school. In ParentVue, you may now download and digitally sign the SR&R. Every parent/guardian with a ParentVUE account will see the SR&R upon login to ParentVUE until the SR&R acknowledgement has been completed.

Your name in the digital signature box must match the parent/guardian’s first and last name in SIS exactly before the signature will be accepted.

Please take a moment to log into ParentVue in your child’s SIS account to access the SR&R. Signatures are due by September 30, 2022.

Please contact the school office if you are having difficulty accessing the booklet.

Parental Consent for Digital Resources

At Sangster, our teachers will use a variety of digital resources to support student learning and promote communication and collaboration with students and families. Some of the digital resources your child may use this year will require your consent before they can be used. You can find our school’s list of the resources that require parental consent here: https://sangsteres.fcps.edu/adopteddigitalresources. Additionally, you can find more information about approved digital resources in FCPS here: https://www.fcps.edu/resources/technology/digital-resources.

Included on this page is also a link to a form where the enrolling parent or guardian will need to indicate whether or not their student is allowed to use the list of digital resources this year. This page also provides more information about how FCPS carefully reviews digital resources for approval and why we must request your consent before using certain tools. We encourage you to complete the parental consent for digital resources form as soon as possible, as your child will not be able to use the digital resources until we have received your permission. Please reach out to Erin Gayzik, Sangster’s School Based Technology Specialist, at emgayzik@fcps.edu if you have questions or concerns about the digital resources we’ve chosen to use this year.
