Good Afternoon Westgate Families,
Wow! What a fantastic first few days of school! It has been such a pleasure having our students and staff back in our classrooms this week. Class communities are busy building relationships, reviewing routines and expectations, and exploring new curriculum. The halls are buzzing with excitement of all that is in store for the year ahead. Parents, thank you for all you have done this summer to make them ready for learning this week.
We also hope that many of you are able to make it to our PTA Picnic on the Playground tonight, August 25, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
As a reminder, please make sure you are filling out and returning anything in your student's first day folder, specifically the Emergency Care Card, as soon as possible.
Lastly, if you are utilizing the Kiss and Ride line in the morning, please do not let your child out of your vehicle until you see an adult present. Students should remain in the vehicle until the first bell rings at 8:40 a.m. Students are not allowed to be let out unattended prior to this time. Thank you for adhering to this very important safety measure.
As always, thank you for your continued support of all things Westgate and we look forward to partnering with you for a great year ahead!
All my best,
Hallie Demetriades
Principal

Immunizations for 2022-23 School Year
As we begin to look ahead to the 2022-23 school year, I encourage everyone to Be Wise, Immunize! Immunizations are required for public school entry and help keep children protected from many diseases. Many children missed their well check-ups and their recommended childhood immunizations during recent years of disruptions from COVID-19. It is critical to catch up now to keep children healthy and protect them from serious diseases.
I encourage you to check with your healthcare provider to make sure your child is up to date on required immunizations for the 2022-23 school year as soon as possible. If your child needs a vaccine to complete their records, you can make an appointment with your healthcare provider or visit the Fairfax County Health Department website for a schedule of child immunization clinics.
Remember to request documentation of your child’s immunizations and bring that to Westgate as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please contact us at 703-610-5700.
