Student Parking

Seniors Only

Families of Falls Church High School Seniors,

The message below has been posted on the Class of 2023 Schoology page for Seniors interested in a parking permit for the 22-23 school year.

Falls Church High School Student Parking permits are available for FCHS Seniors at the lower lot of the Providence Recreation Center (PRC) for $40.00!  Please review the Parking Rules and Policies linked HERE before submitting your application.

As a reminder, all parking on campus will be reserved for FCHS staff and Falls Church Academy students who are traveling from other schools.  All FCHS seniors who receive a parking permit will be able to park in the lower lot at PRC.  Please see the image below for the location of the spaces that are reserved for FCHS students in the PRC parking lot.

parking

There will be approximately 80 parking spaces available for FCHS Seniors.  Signage will be present to help students identify the parking area that is available to them.  It is important that students park only in the designated lot.  School security staff will be monitoring the PRC and FCHS parking lots to support students with this adjustment during renovation.  Students should plan accordingly so that they arrive to class on time.

NOTE: Submitting this google form does not guarantee that you will receive a parking permit.

If you are approved to receive a Student Parking Pass for Providence Recreation Center, it will be hand delivered to you during the school day by a member of our Safety & Security Team.

Again, please review the Parking Rules and Policies linked HERE before submitting your application.

Submit your application HERE.

Go Jags!

Laptop Distribution

Students will receive their laptops during 4th Period on the second day of school, August 23, 2022.

Student Rights & Responsibilities

Cell Phone Use

An important update was made to the Student Rights & Responsibilities document (SR&R) for the coming school year regarding the use of cell phones during the school day.

Beginning this year, cell phones, including all accessories, must be silenced and put away during all instructional periods. Phones may be stored in a locker, backpack, pencil bag, etc. during classes. Teachers may allow usage of cell phones for instructional activities where they are the most appropriate tool. Cell phones may be used on campus before the first bell, after the last bell, during passing periods, and during all lunch periods.

We acknowledge this new policy will be a shift for many students and families, but research shows that managing phone use during class time will support students’ attention and ability to fully engage in their learning.  We want to partner with you to help students understand the importance of putting their phones away to minimize distractions during class.  Please talk to your child(ren) about these expectations for the upcoming school year.  Families may also review the parental controls available for all iPhone and Android users.

Update Emergency Care Contacts in SIS

Fairfax County Public Schools is committed to ensuring that the climate in all FCPS facilities is safe and secure. In support of this goal, FCPS provides weCare@school (weCare), an emergency care information system, available to FCPS parents and guardians who have registered for their own Parent account.

weCare helps manage emergency medical information by enabling parents to go online to enter and update their children’s medical data at their convenience. Contact information provided automatically enrolls parents to receive eNotify communications from the district and their child’s school.

eNotify is the communications tool for FCPS emergency, transportation, attendance, weather closings and delays, and essential outreach messages. Messages are sent via email and text messages. Occasional phone messages are sent as well.

Get more information about updating your emergency care information.

We Need Your Consent for Select Digital Resources

At Falls Church High School, our teachers will use a variety of digital resources to support student learning and promote communication and collaboration with students and families. Some of the digital resources your child may use this year will require your consent before they can be used. You can find our school’s list of the resources that require parental consent here. Additionally, you can find more information about approved digital resources in FCPS here: https://www.fcps.edu/resources/technology/digital-resources.

Included on this page is also a link to a form where the enrolling parent or guardian will need to indicate whether or not their student is allowed to use the list of digital resources this year. This page also provides more information about how FCPS carefully reviews digital resources for approval and why we must request your consent before using certain tools. We encourage you to complete the parental consent for digital resources form as soon as possible, as your child will not be able to use the digital resources until we have received your permission.

Paperless Opt-Outs Available

As a part of our ongoing efforts to streamline paper processes, parents can now select a number of opt-out’s electronically via ParentVUE.  Once you have signed into your ParentVUE account, simply select the “Student Info” tab and click on “Edit Information.” You will find opt-out’s listed there.  Parents that do not yet have a ParentVUE account will still be able to use paper forms for notification. If you need to set up your ParentVUE account, you can create one online via the FCPS ParentVUE Registration page.

immunizations

All students are required to be immunized against certain communicable diseases to attend school in the state of Virginia. It is important for all students to receive the required immunizations.

Please talk with your family healthcare provider about whether or not your children are up to date on their vaccines before the new school year begins. Submit updated immunization records to your school as soon as possible.

More information on immunization requirements and the necessary documentation is available online.
