Dear Dogwood Families,

We are grateful for all of the connections we made during our Dogwood Visits and with the wonderful turnout for Open House. We are excited to see you on Monday, the first day of school.

The first day of school can be one full of emotion for both parents and students. For all students grades 1-6, please say your goodbyes at the bus stop or at the school door as walkers or in your car if you are Kiss and Ride. This is for safety purposes. We cannot have families coming into the building.

Kindergarten parents are allowed to walk your kindergarten student to class for the first week. Please do not go into the classroom, rather, say goodbye at the door and allow them to enter the class with their teacher. Quick goodbyes help your child recover quicker. During the second week of school you will say goodbye to your student at the bus, or school entrance depending on how they come to school.

Our school doors open at 8:35 AM and students may arrive between 8:35 AM and 8:50 AM. After 8:50 AM they are considered tardy. Students entering late will enter via door 1 and check in with the office staff.

All kindergarten and 1st grade students should have their name, teacher’s name and parent contact information in their backpack. Many students do not provide their birth name when asked and this will help with identifying students for safety purposes. Please ensure their information is in their backpacks on the first day of school.

Please do not park in the parking lot to walk your child to the door, or walk to pick your child up from kiss and ride. This creates a lot of confusion and makes it hard to navigate where children are. If you drive, please stay in your car and proceed through the kiss and ride line.

Arrival and dismissal can take a little longer than usual for the first week or so. Please be patient and know that safety of all students must come first.

We appreciate partnering with you.
