Back to School Night

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT

We will be in-person this year! Back-to-School Night is an important night for parents to meet teachers and hear important school and classroom related  information. Join us, Wednesday August 31, 6:00 - 7:55pm.

Parents are invited to come early for two soft-start sessions beginning at 5:30pm:

  • Family Life Education Briefing and Information on Opt-Out (Cafeteria)
  • Get to Know Your Counselors (Auditorium)

Back to School night will offer parents a chance to walk their students entire schedule and meet teachers. Parents can access their student's schedule in SIS Parent Vue. Students can also fill out THIS SCHEDULE FORM for parents.

Any parents / guardians unable to attend Back to School Night in person can access pertinent teacher information through Schoology. Each teacher will have a Blue Folder in your student's classes entitled “Back to School Night” on or after Wednesday, August 31st.

We hope to see you next week for Back to School Night.

Important Back to School Reminder for Parents

Parents/Guardians Must Sign and Return SR&R

We are extremely happy to have your child in our school with us this year!

FCPS’ updated Student Rights & Responsibility booklet is now available online and in the ParentVue section of the Student Information System (SIS). The SR&R booklet explains expectations for student behavior, and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment.

Each year, we ask parents to review, sign, and return the SR&R to our school office. In ParentVue, you may now download and digitally sign the SR&R. Every parent/guardian with a ParentVUE account will see the SR&R upon login to ParentVUE until the SR&R acknowledgement has been completed.

Once you log on, you will see the following message:

SR&R Example

Your name in the digital signature box must match the parent/guardian’s first and last name in SIS exactly before the signature will be accepted.

Please take a moment to log into ParentVue in your child’s SIS account to access the SR&R. Signatures are due by September 30, 2022.

Please contact our Family Liaison or Main Office Staff if you are having difficulty accessing the booklet.

Parents Requested to Authorize Digital Resource Consent

Digital Consent Instructions

FCPS is required to obtain parental permission for student use of software / applications for which FCPS does not have a confidentiality agreement. It is critical that parents respond to the request for parental permission so teachers can plan to use the best technology tools with students this school year. Students will have trouble accessing many Google-based applications used in the classroom (i.e. YouTube, EdPuzzle and more), due to their Parental Consent not being signed.

FCPS has developed a WEB FORM  to collect the information necessary for parents to grant permission digitally.

The instructions for Digital Consent signing in SIS Parent Vue are available by clicking the image above.

Parents and families who do not have an ParentVue activation code, may request one from the school by filling out THIS FORM

Parents can find more information about FCPS-approved digital resources on our Digital Resources at West Springfield High School webpage.

A Note from our Health Room

Changes to Medication Administration Management

This school year, FCPS is changing our medication protocols to help ensure the safety of our medication administration management in all schools. These changes include:

  • Any time you drop off or pick up a medication in the health room, a Medication Delivery/Pick Up Form will be completed and signed by both the parent/guardian and the School Health Aide or FCPS staff member. This form will document that all required authorizations are complete, and the number of pills or amount of medication accepted/returned. A copy of the form will be given to the parent/guardian and school administrator.
  • Medications received will be verified to ensure the description of the medication on the container/packaging matches the medication in the container.
  • All medications must be in the original pharmacy container. Over the counter (OTC) medications must be in an unopened original container. It is no longer be acceptable for parents/guardians to bring in refills from home and place them into the container currently in the health room.
  • Only a 30-day supply of medications should be brought to school. No more than 100 tablets or pills of OTC medication should be brought to school.
  • All requirements outlined in FCPS Regulation 2102, First Aid, Emergency Treatment and Administration of Medication for Students, continue to apply.
