Dear Poplar Tree Families,

It was great seeing everyone at our Welcome Walk and Open House! Please see below for some important information.

On Monday only, parents may walk to classrooms with their child. Please make sure you leave the school by 8:40 so that we can get our first day started.

Superintendent Community Conversation

Please join us for a Superintendent Community Conversation at Chantilly High School on Wednesday, August 31 at 6:30-7:30 p.m. Learn more about Dr. Michelle Reid, FCPS superintendent, and help her get to know our school community. Language interpretation will be provided, as available, as well as child care and light refreshments. Please register to attend.

Poplar Tree's Back to School Night for grades 3-6 is on Wednesday, August 31 which conflicts with the Superintendent Community Conversation at Chantilly High School for our pyramid. I encourage you to participate in a neighboring pyramid’s Superintendent Community Conversation so you can get to know Dr. Reid and help her learn about our community. Consider attending one of the following events:

September 20 at Westfield High School, 6:30-7:30 p.m.- Register Here.

October 18 at Centreville High School, 6:30-7:30 p.m.- Register Here.

Important Safety Reminders for Arrival and Dismissal

We need your help in keeping our students safe!

All Drivers must follow traffic rules.

Please review the information below.   

Aerial Map

 Please see the aerial map above indicating the designated Kiss and Ride location, buses only entrance, and crosswalk location. 

  • The designated Kiss & Ride area is located in the parking lot. ❗It is unsafe for the students to be dropped on Melville Lane.
  • Load and unload in the Kiss & Ride area only. 
  • AM drop-off is 8:25 - 8:40.
  • PM pick-up begins at 3:25.
  • Pull forward as far as possible into the designated Kiss & Ride lane before loading or unloading.
  • In the Kiss & Ride line, stay in a single line.  IT IS UNSAFE TO PASS OTHER CARS!!
  • Children should enter and exit cars from the passenger side ONLY.
  • Parents please stay in your car.
  • Please refrain from using cell phones in Kiss & Ride.
  • When pulling into and out of Kiss and Ride, ❗please be mindful of the speed in which you drive your car.
  • For students walk to and from school and need to cross Melville Road, please cross at the crosswalk.❗
  • For walkers - please meet your child by the flag pole or by the rock/bike rack area. We need the area in front of door number 1 and door number 2 to be clear so students can exit.
  • If you need to park on Melville lane, please DO NOT block driveways❗

School Meal Information

Just a reminder that school meals are not free this year. Students will need to enter their pin number in order to buy a school meal. All parents received an email with directions and your child's pin number.

In the cafeteria each class is assigned four tables one of which is nut and peanut free. Students that bring items that contain nuts or peanuts may not sit at those tables. Thank you for you help in keeping our students safe!
