Please be sure to read the information included below regarding the first day of school and other beginning of year procedures. To help our students' first day go smoothly, please make sure that your child's teacher knows how your child will be going home on Monday.

Also, if your family has any questions or needs support,  please do reach out to us!

We want the 2022-2023 school year to be a wonderful year for your child!

A Big PTA Thank you!

We cannot thank the PTA for all that they have done this summer to support our Churchill Road Community.  Over the summer, they updated our staff lounge with new furniture, appliances, and artwork.  Additionally, they have worked tirelessly the past few weeks to connect with new families, out and about doing “Kindergarten Welcoming Chalking”, as well as providing a fabulous welcome back barbeque luncheon for our staff.

We continue to be grateful for the entire PTA’s generosity to our staff.

Request for Parental Permission to Use Digital Resources

Fairfax County Public Schools provides access to digital resources to maximize learning opportunities and protect student privacy. Each FCPS digital resource has had an instructional and technical review. Information about the educational technology tools approved for use within FCPS can be found in the online Digital Ecosystem Library

Some FCPS-approved resources used by Churchill Road students require parental consent. To view the list of resources that require consent, please visit our webpage and fill out the consent form here.  It is critical that parents complete this request for parental permission so teachers can plan to use the best technology tools with students this school year.

Parents can find more information about FCPS-approved digital resources on the Digital Resources in FCPS webpage.

Student Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

Student safety is first and foremost for student arrival and dismissal.  On the first day of school, and each day thereafter, our staff will meet your student at the door and direct them to their classrooms or walk them to class, if needed.

Whether your student will be a walker, a bus rider, or arrive to school via private vehicle at Kiss 'n Ride, please review our comprehensive Arrival and Dismissal Presentation

Our school Crossing Guard, Beeda Lee-Pawlak, has provided key safety guidlines surrounding the intersection of Raymond Avenue and Churchill Road below.

Safety Guidelines from our School Crossing Guard

crossing

Hello Churchill Elementary Families,

Hope all are ready for a new school year! I'm happy to report that I'm back as your Fairfax County Police Crossing Guard for the 2022-2023 school year at the intersection Raymond and Churchill Rd. We are all excited and ready to get started. Car and pedestrian traffic will be heavy and hectic for the first 2 or 3 weeks or so. For the parents and students who will be walking to and from school, I have a few guidelines to help things run a bit more smoothly. Please read the list of guidelines below and make certain to go over them with your children if they will be walking to and from school this year. I greatly appreciate your support, cooperation, and patience.

  • When I am present at the intersection of Raymond Rd. and Churchill Rd. I will stop all directions of car traffic to allow pedestrians to cross. Please be patient, I have a method of cycling car traffic and pedestrians.
  • Please wait for my verbal command “CROSS” before crossing. Please cross briskly, with focus, but do not run.
  • Please do not follow me when I am entering the intersection to stop car traffic. I will make certain that all directions of car traffic have completely stopped before letting pedestrians enter the cross walk to begin crossing.
  • I will ask student patrols to hold pedestrians by saying "HOLD THEM". Please obey the student patrols (they will hold their arms out to their sides to signal not to enter crosswalk) and my verbal commands. Do not try to enter the cross walk after I have indicated to patrols to "HOLD THEM" or I have said "PLEASE STAY". This is very important, because I'm about to let the car traffic resume moving.
  • Please make certain to cross in the crosswalk. Do not jump off the curbs outside of the crosswalk to begin crossing.
  • If you are on a bike or scooter, please dismount your bike or scooter, and walk it across.
  • If you are parking your car in and around the school zone, please do not park in NO PARKING ZONES. We need to keep sight lines clear.
  • Please know that I will cross your children as if they are my own, with firm and direct commands. My only goal is to keep your kids and you safe.

Be Safe. See you at the crossings!
