Student Drop Off/Pick Up Procedures:
Rocky Run Families,
If you are planning to pick up and drop off your student through the Kiss and Ride circle, please take a moment and watch the video below to help ensure that our Kiss and Ride runs as smoothly as possible! All students are encouraged to walk, bike, skateboard, or access assigned bus transportation to school daily.
The Kiss and Ride at RRMS was designed by FCPS Safety and Transportation staff to ensure the safety of students and drivers. Please follow the directions of the staff members who are outside to ensure Kiss and Ride pick up and drop off runs smoothly. Once drivers are accustomed to how the circle works, it is an efficient process.
During the first several days of school, expect a high volume of cars and delays at arrival and dismissal time. We encourage families to drop students off as early as 7:05 or pick up at 2:30 to avoid traffic delays.
Please follow the directions of the staff members who are outside to ensure Kiss and Ride pick up and drop off runs smoothly. Once drivers are accustomed to how the circle works, it is an efficient process.

- When using the circle, pull as far forward as possible in the Kiss and Ride zone to maintain traffic flow. Students exit from the passenger side of the car and will walk around the sidewalk to door 1.
- Please do not drop your student off before the Kiss and Ride zone, in the roundabout off of Poplar Tree Road, or on the side of the roadway.
- The parking lot is not designated for student drop off or pick up. Students may not cross the parking lot and will be directed to wait for their ride in front of the school.
-
Do not make u-turns when not allowed, only make a left turn into the 2nd entrance from Poplar Tree.
-
Please be observant and listen to the directions given by staff/crossing guard. Students are directed to cross intersections in groups as a safety measure.
We are so grateful for your partnership and support as we begin the 22-23 school year.
