Message From Principal Vereb

Hello Herndon Middle School Community!

We greeted many incoming 7th grade students to our annual Jumpstart program this week for two sessions. We are thankful for our dedicated faculty and staff members who made the transition program successful for our Hawks!

This weekend we welcomed roughly 40 volunteers to work on campus beautification. We hope to make this an annual community event. We thank our parent liaison, PTA board members, parents, and students that volunteered three hours of their time to come out and help as we worked on the grounds. Please be on the lookout for the PTA communication for parents interested in donating large potted flowers for our entrance areas. We are excited to have the campus in back-to-school shape later this week. Special thanks to our fantastic custodial crew for their hard work and dedication in every pursuit toward preparing the building for the '22-'23 school year.

This coming week, we look forward to welcoming parents, guardians, and our Hawks to our annual Open House on Thursday, August 18th, 2:00 pm-4:00 pm. During our time together, we will have the essential start of school information and some festive activities planned by our School Counseling team.

Lastly, we look forward to welcoming all our Hawks for the first day of school on Monday, August 22nd!

Proud Principal

Kiss and Ride Procedures

kiss and ride

Safety is of the utmost priority to us here at HMS. Because of this, we have  procedures our families should follow when dropping a student off at HMS.

  • All student drop off must occur at the designated Kiss & Ride area located  in the back of the building. Students should remain in the vehicle until  you approach the designated drop-off area.
  • Students should NOT be dropped off in the front of the building on Locust  Street or in the side parking lot.
  • We encourage you to arrive a few minutes early. High congestion time is  typically 7:15-7:30.
  • When exiting the HMS campus and re-entering Locust Street traffic during  morning drop off, right turns only may be made between 7am-8am.
