The first day of school is Monday, August 22nd! To help the start of the year be a smooth one, we have scheduled a series of back-to-school events for the next two weeks. Please mark your calendars and plan to join us.
Back-to-School Town Halls, 6 – 7 p.m.
Virtual Town Hall in English via Zoom – Tuesday, August 16th
Join us online to hear the latest news about the upcoming school year from Lane Principal Christine Prahl. We will have time for questions as well.

In-Person Town Hall in Spanish in the Lane Library – Wednesday, August 17th
Mrs. Prahl and family liaison Nancy Solís López will present this special back-to-school presentation for our Spanish-speaking families.
Open House Thursday, August 18th, 5 – 7 p.m.
Students and their families are invited to come to school during this time period to see their classrooms, meet their teachers, and reconnect with Lane friends.
In order to manage our capacity for this popular event, we have divided our school community into three groups, by student last name. (If you have children with different last names, your family may choose a session based on any of the names.)
- Last names that begin with A through H: 5 – 5:30 p.m.
- Last names that begin with I through Q: 5:45 – 6:15 p.m.
- Last names that begin with R through Z: 6:30 – 7 p.m.
Please feel free to bring your child's school supplies to this event so you won't have to worry about carrying them on the first day of school.
Parking will be limited, so please walk to school or carpool if possible.
First Day Coffee Monday, August 22nd, 9:20 – 10:30 a.m.
After the school day begins at 9:20, the PTA will host a First Day Coffee in the cafeteria for all parents and family members who would like to attend. It’s a great way to meet other parents and learn about many of the programs happening at the school and opportunities to get involved.
Back-to-School Night on Thursday, August 25th
Please make plans to join us for Back-to-School Night on Thursday, August 25th, from 6 to 8 p.m. This event is very important for parents and guardians, as it offers a chance to meet teachers and hear directly from them about plans for the year ahead and classroom policies.
We will offer two sessions during the evening so those with multiple children at Lane will be able to visit more classrooms. In addition, short presentations by our family liaisons, ESOL teachers, counselors, and other specialists are also planned. Stay tuned for more details coming soon!
Please note that these events are designed for adults only and that child care will not be available. If you bring your children with you, they will need to remain with you throughout the evening.
“First Friday” Family Engagement Series: “Family Partnership & Volunteering at Lane” Friday, August 26th, 8 – 9 a.m.
We are excited to bring back our monthly “First Friday” in-person series of workshops and principal coffees this year! The first presentation, “Family Partnerships & Volunteering at Lane,” will be presented by principal Christine Prahl and family liaisons Melanie Crosby Hardy and Nancy Solis Lopez. At this session, you’ll learn about how Lane partners with parents and families and how you can get involved and support your child and our school through ongoing communication and volunteering. Child care will be provided for school-aged students.
