Opening Week Reminders, Plus Dr. Michelle Reid to Hold Community Conversation Tuesday, August 23

Message from Communications Specialist

Dear TJHSST Families,

It's hard to believe that we are only one week away from the start of the 2022-23 school year! I wanted to send everyone a quick message with a couple of updates, including an opportunity to meet the new Fairfax County Public School Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid on Tuesday, Aug. 23 at a Community Conversation forum inside our cafeteria. This event is meant specifically for the TJ community, both families and staff. Registration information is below.

I've also included a few other updates - the 2022-23 bell schedules, Back-to-School Night dates, and parking permit information.

A more comprehensive message will be delivered to your inbox on Friday afternoon. It will feature a welcome message from Dr. Bonitatibus, as well as some important opening week information such as required forms you will need to fill out, instructions for student drop-off in the morning, how to access student schedules, and more.

Let's have a great school year!

Sincerely,

Mike Roth

Save the Date - Back to School Nights Aug. 30 and Sept. 8

TJ parents/guardians, save the date as our annual Back to School Nights return to an in-person event this year! Because of parking concerns, we will hold two events:

Tuesday, August 30 - 9th and 12th grades (Class of 2023 and Class of 2026)

Thursday, September 8 - 10th and 11th grades (Class of 2024 and Class of 2025)

Both events will take place from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Parents/guardians will have the opportunity to meet with each of their child's teachers and learn more about their class and expectations for the 2022-23 school year. In addition, there will be booths to meet with the TJ PTSA, TJ Partnership Fund, and the Athletic Boosters before and after the event.

More information will come later this month.

Obtaining Parking Permits

  • Seniors and juniors can acquire a parking pass during the first two weeks of school.
  • Students and their parents need to fill out and sign this application form and return a hard copy to the security office.
    • The parking fee is $200 for the school year and can be paid on MySchoolBucks . You will see a button labeled "Student Parking Pass Fee." Click on that and it will allow you to make the purchase.
  • Students with economic challenges supported through federal meal programs may speak to a security representative about reduced fees.
  • There will be no tickets written for students parked in student approved areas during the first two weeks of school while everyone is still obtaining passes.
