Dear Woodburn Families,

We loved engaging with you during our Welcome Walk and Open House events.  It was great to connect and celebrate the start of a new year. We have an amazing community and cannot wait to open our doors on Monday.

As we start the year, we are committed to building warm and welcoming classroom communities and to establishing positive relationships with each of our students.  All of our students deserve to be known and feel a sense of belonging.  We will make this happen.

Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership.  We look forward to working alongside you this school year.

Together We Grow,

Katy & Elizabeth

First Day Photos

We want to see your first day photos!  Please email Kelley Dauberman, our School Based Technology Specialist, any photos that you are comfortable with us sharing on our social media platforms.  Let's celebrate the start of a new year together.

Arrival Information

Kiss and Ride

Families who drive their child to school will receive their Kiss and Ride number of the first day.  Please make sure to grab this number before leaving.

Walking to Class

In the past we have allowed families of our youngest wildcats to walk their child to class on the first day of school. We adjusted this practice last year and will not be permitting families to walk their child to the classroom on the first day.  This is to ensure the health and safety of our students, staff, and community.  Many staff will be welcoming our students and assisting them to class.

Buses

We appreciate your patience and understanding if the bus arrives a few minutes early or late during the first few days of school.  The drivers are figuring out their new routes.

Important Forms to Complete

Students will be sent home with "First Day Packets" on Monday.  This folder contains forms that we need all families to complete. Many forms can be submitted online and are shared below.  Thank you for taking the time to share this important information with us.

The following forms need to be completed. Once completed, you can either drop them off at school or take a picture of your completed forms and email them to dnunez@fcps.edu.

  • Identification of Military Connected Students
  • Homeless Student Referral
  • FC Sexual Harassment Lessons- 6th grade ONLY

The following forms must be completed electronically.

Reporting Absences

There are several ways to report your child's absence:

  1. Call 703-641-8282 (Press #1 for English and #2 for Spanish)
  2. Complete our online attendance form.
  3. Email WoodburnElem.Attendance@fcps.edu

Breakfast and Lunch

Students who do not qualify for free or reduced meals will now pay for breakfast and lunch.  All students will enter a pin number for meals.  This number has been shared with you through email and by your child's teacher.  We know that students will need time to learn their number and will ensure all become familiar with this new process.

Breakfast:  Students will be able to pick up breakfast from the cafeteria each morning and then eat in their classroom. They will need to type in their pin number.

Lunch:  Students will travel through the lunch line and need to enter their pin number.

More information about meal prices and payment can be found here

Digital Resources Consent

At Woodburn, our teachers will use a variety of digital resources to support student learning and promote communication and collaboration with students and families. Some of the digital resources your child may use this year will require your consent before they can be used. You can find our school’s list of the resources that require parental consent on our School Website. Additionally, you can find more information about approved digital resources on the FCPS Website. The enrolling parent or guardian should complete this form as soon as possible, as your child will not be able to use the digital resources until we have received your permission. Please reach out to Kelley Dauberman at krdauberman@fcps.edu if you have questions or concerns about the digital resources we’ve chosen to use this year.

Parking in the Neighborhood

It has been brought to the school's attention that families are blocking our neighbor's driveways when attending Woodburn events and when dropping off and picking up their children each day.  Please do not block driveways when parking near the school.  We appreciate your help with this.
