LAES Weekly Wave: August 12

Principal's Message

Welcome Back Lake Anne Family!

In a few days, we will begin the 2022-2023 school year! We are excited to welcome all of our students and families, whether returning or new to the Lake Anne family. We look forward to the hallways and classrooms being filled with the buzz of enthusiastic learners. This summer has been filled with preparation and planning for your return.

Students and families are invited to join us for our Meet and Greet Open House on Thursday, August 18th between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The meet and greet will give you an opportunity to meet your child’s classroom teacher, drop off your school supplies, become familiar with the building, and make or reconnect with friends. Our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is hosting Popsicles on the Playground immediately after Open House and looks forward to our school community getting to know one another.

You will receive your child’s teacher name and classroom information on Wednesday, August 17th via an eNotify email message.

The first day of school is Monday, August 22nd. We will follow our full-day schedule. The doors of Lake Anne Elementary will open at 8:30 a.m. Students are expected to be in their classrooms ready to learn by 8:50 a.m. The school day for everyone begins at 8:50 a.m. and ends at 3:35 p.m., Monday through Friday.

On behalf of all of the staff members at Lake Anne, we want you to know that we cannot wait to see you!

Let’s make a SPLASH together,

Mrs. Stewart                           Dr. Rogers

Principal                                  Assistant Principal

Free and Reduced-Priced Meal Applications

For the past two years, the federal government has provided no-cost meals to all public school students without the need to complete the annual Free and Reduced-Price Meal application.

The extension of the no-cost meals benefit to all students is expected to expire at the end of this school year, meaning families must submit an application and be approved to be eligible for free and reduced price meals for the 2022-23 school year.

Interested families are encouraged to submit the Free and Reduced-Price Meal application before the first day of the 22-23 school year. The online application will be available later this summer and accessible via the FCPS homepage.

Students approved for Free and Reduced-Price Meals may qualify for additional benefits such as waived or reduced fees for instruments, uniforms, field trips, FCPS class fees, and Parktakes classes.

Tutor.com

Students have unlimited access to 24/7, on-demand, online tutoring support services through Tutor.com at no cost to families.  Students can connect online any time, any place, and in most K-12 subjects for however long they need. Tutoring may be on-demand and/or scheduled at a time convenient for the student and/or family.

Please follow this link for more information: https://www.fcps.edu/resources/online-tutoring-services

Paperless Opt-Outs Available!

As a part of our ongoing efforts to streamline paper processes, parents can now select a number of opt-out’s electronically via ParentVUE.  Once you have signed into your ParentVUE account, simply select the “Student Info” tab and click on “Edit Information.” You will find opt-out’s listed there.  Parents that do not yet have a ParentVUE account will still be able to use paper forms for notification. If you need to set up your ParentVUE account, you can create one online via the FCPS ParentVUE Registration page.
