Belvedere News and Announcements - August 19, 2022

Classes Start on Monday, August 22 for 2022-2023 School Year

We look forward to seeing students soon!  Please note that our Bell Schedule will be 9:20 a.m. to 4:05 p.m. this year.

From the Administration

Dear Belvedere Family:

Thank you to all who came to Open House yesterday. We loved seeing you and our students come through the school doors. We look forward to the first day of school on Monday.

There is a lot of information sent home at the start of the school year. Please take time to look this over and complete forms and send information as needed. An important change this year is that food will not be free for students. If you believe your child may qualify for Free and Reduced Price Meals, please complete the application. Please also note that if your child qualified last year, you need to reapply this year. If you need help, please call the office.

When school begins on Monday, Kindergarteners may walk with their parents to the gym to meet the teacher and classmates. Kindergarten parents may say good-bye there. First graders will meet their teachers and classmates in the cafeteria. First through fifth grade students will enter the school building without their parents and make their way to class. Staff will be available to make sure all students get to their classrooms. We are so happy to welcome everyone back to school on Monday.

Enjoy the weekend!

Cecilia Vanderhye, Principal and Kelly Cabezas, Assistant Principal

School Opening Parent Checklist

We have created a checklist for parents and guardians to keep track of important action items to complete at the beginning of the school year.  Please reach out to our main office if you need any help accessing or filling out the forms.

Emergency Care Updates in SIS ParentVUE

Fairfax County Public Schools is committed to ensuring that the climate in all FCPS facilities is safe and secure. In support of this goal, FCPS provides weCare@school (weCare), an emergency care information system, available to FCPS parents and guardians who have registered for their own Parent account.

weCare helps manage emergency medical information by enabling parents to go online to enter and update their children’s medical data at their convenience. Contact information provided automatically enrolls parents to receive eNotify communications from the district and their child’s school. eNotify is the communications tool for FCPS emergency, transportation, attendance, weather closings and delays, and essential outreach messages. Messages are sent via email and text messages. Occasional phone messages are sent as well.

Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R)

The Student Rights and Responsibilities document (SR&R) explains expectations for student behavior and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment. Read the Letter from the Superintendent on the 2022-23 Student Rights and Responsibilities: A Guide for Families.

Please review the SR&R for school year 22-23 and submit your e-signature through ParentVue.

Parental Permission to Use Digital Resources

Some of the digital resources your child may use this year require parental consent for student use.  Parents must visit the Digital Resources at Belvedere site for information and to provide consent for use. Your child will not have access to certain resources and tools until your consent is provided.

Free and Reduced-Price Meal Applications

The extension of the no-cost meals benefit to all students expired at the end of the 2021-22 school year, meaning families must submit an application and be approved to be eligible for free and reduced-price meals for the 2022-23 school year. The application for the Free and Reduced-Price Meal program is now available online.
