 Welcome Back, Lions!
We hope you have had a wonderful summer! The new school year is just around the corner, and we can't wait to welcome our Lions back to school!
We are looking forward to an incredible year ahead of deepening connections with and among families, honoring student voice, and continuing to meet our students by name and by need through high academic expectations and differentiated learning opportunities. We are inspired by the opportunities that lie ahead for our Lions this year.
Our teachers and staff are excited to see our Lions and are planning lots of exciting opportunities for them to learn and grow in the 2022-2023 school year.
We look forward to seeing you at our Free Haircut event and Open House on the 19th!

Open House | August 19th
Join us for In-Person Open House on Friday, August 19, 2022! To accommodate all families and ensure we aren’t too crowded during the Open House, we will have two sessions for Lions in Grades 1-6 and a separate session for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten. During Open House students and families will meet the teacher, drop off supplies, and reconnect with friends.
Families should enter the building at Door 1 or Door 4 to visit their child’s class and exit at Door 6 (Kiss and Ride) for popsicles with members of the Admin Team. Staff will be stationed along the halls to help direct traffic and provide directions as needed.
For our Lions in Grades 1 through 6, we will welcome
- families with the last name A-M from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and
- families with last names N-Z from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
For our newest lions, our Kindergarteners, we will welcome you between 2:00 & 3:00 p.m.
School Hours
The first day of school is Monday, August 22, 2022, and every minute counts! Our students should be in their classroom seats no later than 8:20 a.m. Our day begins with connecting with each other and building relationships among staff and students for productive learning!
Class Placements
We know that you are eager to learn who your child's teacher is this year! Class placements will be emailed to families via eNotify by 4:00 p.m. on August 18, 2022. If you do not have an email or phone number on file, please contact the school at 703-227-5400.
Consent for Select Digital Resources Needed
At London Towne, our teachers will use a variety of digital resources to support student learning and promote communication and collaboration with students and families. Some of the digital resources your child may use this year will require your consent before they can be used. You can find our school’s list of the resources that require parental consent here: https://londontownees.fcps.edu/adopteddigitalresources
Included on this page is also a link to a form where the enrolling parent or guardian will need to indicate whether or not their student is allowed to use the list of digital resources this year. This page also provides more information about how FCPS carefully reviews digital resources for approval and why we must request your consent before using certain tools. We encourage you to complete the parental consent for digital resources form as soon as possible, as your child will not be able to use the digital resources until we have received your permission.
Please reach out to our Technology Specialist, Rachel Lanier, at relanier@fcps.edu if you have questions or concerns about the digital resources we’ve chosen to use this year.
Free and Reduced Meal Information
Families must submit an application and be approved to be eligible for free and reduced price meals for SY 22-23. For the past two years, the federal government has provided no-cost meals to all public school students without the need to complete the annual Free and Reduced-Price Meal application. However, the extension of the no-cost meals benefit to all students has expired and families will need to apply for free and reduced meals again.
Families are encouraged to submit the Free and Reduced-Price Meal application prior to the first day of the 22-23 school year. Click here for the online application and additional information.
Applications may also be picked up in the London Towne Office at any time.
