Returning 8th grade students can pick up their schedules and conduct self-guided tours on Wednesday, August 17th from 8:00 – 10:00am. This early morning time is to allow flexibility for families to come by before daily commitments begin. There are no planned activities for this two-hour block. Students can spend as little as ten minutes, picking up the class schedule and practicing their walking routes for classes on the even and odd days for their schedule. For families who are not available to come by, schedules will be available in SIS beginning 8/17. The clinic will be open for parents who wish to drop off forms and/or medications. Also, we will be collecting all required beginning-of-year forms. Check your email later this week for more information on forms!
August 18th - Orientation for Rising 7th Grade Students
This will take place for all rising 7th grade students (no registration necessary) on August 18th from 9-11 AM. During the orientation students will receive their class schedules, have the opportunity to move to each class, and meet their teachers. The morning is for students only.
Transportation will be provided from your local elementary school. More information will be provided later this week.
Both students and parents are invited to come that afternoon from 1-3 pm for self-guided tours to practice walking the student’s schedule. No lockers will be distributed in the upcoming year due to the building renovation (students will be able to carry back packs). We will be collecting forms and the clinic will be open for medication drop-off.

2022-2023 School Year Starts August 22
As you enjoy your summer vacation, summer camps, and other activities, be sure to note that the first day of school for the 2022-23 school year will be Monday, August 22. See the complete 2022-23 school year calendar
Immunizations
As we begin to look ahead to the 2022-23 school year, I encourage everyone to Be Wise, Immunize! Immunizations are required for public school entry and help keep children protected from many diseases. Many children missed their well check-ups and their recommended childhood immunizations during recent years of disruptions from COVID-19. It is critical to catch up now to keep children healthy and protect them from serious diseases.
I encourage you to check with your healthcare provider to make sure your child is up to date on required immunizations for the 2022-23 school year as soon as possible. If your child needs a vaccine to complete their records, you can make an appointment with your healthcare provider or visit the Fairfax County Health Department website for a schedule of child immunization clinics.
Remember to request documentation of your child’s immunizations and get that to Frost MS as soon as possible. The easiest way to do that is to email it, if possible, to Ms. Emily Cheng at echeng@fcps.edu. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Cheng.
Free and Reduced-Price Meal Applications Due This Summer
For the past two years, the federal government has provided no-cost meals to all public school students without the need to complete the annual Free and Reduced-Price Meal application. The extension of the no-cost meals benefit to all students is expected to expire at the end of this school year, meaning families must submit an application and be approved to be eligible for free and reduced price meals for the 2022-23 school year.
Interested families are encouraged to submit the Free and Reduced-Price Meal application before the first day of the 22-23 school year. The online application will be available later this summer and accessible via the FCPS homepage.
Students approved for Free and Reduced-Price Meals may qualify for additional benefits such as waived or reduced fees for instruments, uniforms, field trips, FCPS class fees, and Parktakes classes.
