FCPS Required, Opt-Out & Optional Forms

FCPS Required, Opt-Out & Optional Forms are available on the Langley High School website at this link.

Student Laptops for 2022-2023 School Year

Langley HS provides each student a laptop through FCPSOn. FCPSOn is a transformation of learning for students and educators. At its core, it provides students with equitable access to meaningful learning experiences and technology to support their learning. Visit the FCPSOn information page to learn more. Students will be able to pick up their school-issued laptop on the first or second day of school in their English class.

This year, families have the option to opt out of taking an FCPS device if they would like their child to bring their own device (BYOD). Families must indicate this choice in SIS. Read more about BYOD in FCPS.

Families, We Need Your Consent for Select Digital Resources

At Langley, our teachers will use a variety of digital resources to support student learning and promote communication and collaboration with students and families. Some of the digital resources your child may use this year will require your consent before they can be used. You can find our school’s list of the resources that require parental consent here. Additionally, you can find more information about approved digital resources in FCPS here: https://www.fcps.edu/resources/technology/digital-resources.

Included on this page is also a link to a form where the enrolling parent or guardian will need to indicate whether or not their student is allowed to use the list of digital resources this year. This page also provides more information about how FCPS carefully reviews digital resources for approval and why we must request your consent before using certain tools. We encourage you to complete the parental consent for digital resources form as soon as possible, as your child will not be able to use the digital resources until we have received your permission. Please reach out to your child’s teachers if you have questions or concerns about the digital resources we’ve chosen to use this year.

School Health Room Information

Dear Parent/Guardian,

The safety of your student is a priority for us.  This school year, we are changing some medication protocols to help ensure the safety of our medication administration management in Fairfax County Public Schools. These changes include:

  • Any time you drop off or pick up a medication in the health room, a Medication Delivery/Pick Up Form will be completed and signed by both the parent/guardian and the School Health Aide or FCPS staff member. This form will document that all required authorizations are complete, and the number of pills or amount of medication accepted/returned. A copy of the form will be given to the parent/guardian and school administrator.
  • Medications received will be verified to ensure the description of the medication on the container/packaging matches the medication in the container.
  • All medications must be in the original pharmacy container. Over the counter (OTC) medications must be in an unopened original container. It will no longer be acceptable for parents/guardians to bring in refills from home and place them into the container currently in the health room.
  • Only a 30-day supply of medications should be brought to school. No more than 100 tablets or pills of OTC medication should be brought to school.

All requirements outlined in FCPS Regulation 2102, First Aid, Emergency Treatment and Administration of Medication for Students, continue to apply.  We appreciate your support in implementing these new safety practices.  Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at 571-722-5780 or the School Health Aide Bronwen Fleming at 703-287-2710 or bmfleming@fcps.edu.

Sincerely,

Mary Joan Shea
