Dear Spring Hill Families,
I hope that you had a wonderful summer as a family. The new school year is just around the corner, and we can't wait to welcome our Panthers back to school!
We are looking forward to an incredible year ahead of building relationships with and among families and continuing to meet high academic expectations and differentiated learning opportunities for our students. We are inspired by the opportunities that lie ahead for our Spring Hill Family this year.
On Tuesday, August 16th you will receive an introductory email from your assigned classroom teacher as well as helpful information.
Enjoy your last days of summer break. I look forward to seeing you all. As always, please reach out with any questions.

Open House
You are invited to Open House for families on Thursday, August 18th from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM. Students will be able to visit their classroom and meet their teacher. You will also have the opportunity to walk around the building and meet our specialists, librarian, counselors and check out our cafeteria.
New Family Orientation
If you are new to Spring Hill and would like to learn more about our school, please join us on Thursday, August 18th, 8:30-9:00 AM in the cafeteria prior to Open House. Student guided tours will also be available.
Back-to-School-Night
You are invited to our Back-to-School Night on August 30th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM to learn more about our school and instructional programs.
As we are planning for the first day of school we would like to make you aware of a change to our first day protocols. As students enter the building, they will be directed and/or escorted by designated school staff to their classrooms. In addition to our layered mitigation strategies, parents will no longer be walking students to their classrooms. We thank you for your cooperation as we make this necessary change.
Parents are invited to join the PTO and Administrators for a "boo-hoo" breakfast at 8:50 am in the cafeteria. Please enter through door # 2.
Bring a water bottle. Water fountains will not be available for students to drink from. However, students may fill up their water bottles at classroom sinks or hydration stations.
Do you know a family who exemplifies the Spring Hill spirit? Is there a family that has helped you feel welcome in the community? This year, we are excited to spotlight our Spring Hill families on the website! We'd like to invite you to nominate families using this form. Once families are chosen, they will be contacted for more information. Check out our current spotlight for this week.
At Spring Hill we use a system that helps us with dismissal. It is called PickUp Patrol. PickUp Patrol is a cloud-based web application that automates the after-school dismissal process. It eliminates the need for parents to write notes or make phone calls to communicate their children’s after-school plans.
All parents (new and returning) will receive a “Welcome to Pickup Patrol” email soon with login instructions. Once logged in, create your child(ren)'s dismissal plan(s) for the remainder of the year. If you already have an account from last school year, you do not need to re-register. However, returning families should login to PickUp Patrol and update your student(s)' default dismissal plans for the upcoming school year. ALL families, regardless of transportation option, will receive a kiss & ride car number and a car tag at the beginning of the year. Returning families will keep the same number as last year.
Please watch this video PUP How it Works video or use this tool PUP from Parents POV to familiarize yourself with the program. You can also see more information on our Spring Hill Website.
One of the most important things we do at Spring Hill is to ensure the safety of students, families, and staff during arrival and dismissal. Below are the procedures for our school community. Please make sure to read them carefully and follow established routes for the safety of all!
During arrival and dismissal, the entrance to the bus lanes in the front of the school and the parking lot to the left of the school (by the stop light) are closed to ensure the safety of our students.
It’s important to note that Kiss & Ride takes time. Plan thoughtfully and arrive in a timely manner to ensure your child arrives at school to begin his/her school day on time. The Kiss & Ride procedures are as follows:
Kiss and Ride arrival instructions
Enter the Kiss & Ride lane from Lewinsville Road. Loop around the school’s parking lot and follow the directions of staff. You will be directed to pull forward and a staff member will open the door for your child when it’s time to be released from the car. Your child should be seated on the passenger side of the car as they will exit from the right side only. Parents must stay in their vehicles at all times. Kiss & Ride cars will exit right onto Lewinsville Road.
Kiss and Ride dismissal instructions
Enter the Kiss & Ride lane from Lewinsville Road and loop around the school’s parking lot and follow the directions from staff. You will be directed to pull forward. Please have displayed your kiss and ride number on the passenger side front window. A staff member will call your child(ren). Students will then enter the vehicle from the passenger side of the car.
Kiss & Ride numbers are given to every family regardless of whether it is used or not. Numbers were given out during Open House and will be sent home to those families who were unable to attend. All teachers will have access to the numbers and can assist you if you don’t know your child’s number.
Please remember to not pass cars in the Kiss & Ride lane.
Please refer to the Kiss & Ride map below:
 Walkers
Walkers will enter Door 7 and exit the building using Doors 6, 7 & 8 at Spring HIll Elementary on the back of the building. Kindergarten students will be dismissed from door 7 only, first grade will be released outside Door 8 and the remaining students will exit using door 6. These doors are all located in the same area.(see map). Parking is available at Spring Hill Rec center. All students must be escorted when crossing the street.
Bus Riders
Bus riders received route information directly from FCPS Transportation the week of August 16 via their Parent Vue accounts. During the first week of school, staff members will be posted in the hallways in the morning to direct students to their rooms and in the afternoon to help children find their buses at the end of the day. Please help us by ensuring that your child knows their bus number.
Bus riders will enter and exit the building using door 1. Students will be dismissed from class upon bus arrival.
Kindergarten: Students in Kindergarten will be assigned an iPad this school year. Teachers will communicate the take home plan with parents during Back-To-School-Night.
1st and 2nd Grades: Students will be assigned a device that stays in school during the week and goes home on certain days. More information on the take home plan will be discussed during Back-To-School-Night. If devices are needed for schoolwork or projects, or in the event of an extended absence or temporary closure, devices will be sent home with students so they can continue to participate in their classwork.
Grades 3 - 6: Students will be issued an FCPS device for school use. Your child will take their device home with them each day, and should come to school each day with their device fully charged.
Last year students were issued a laptop sleeve to carry their school device back and forth to school. Students were asked to keep their sleeve at the end of the school year in order to use it again during the 22-23 school year. If you misplaced or would like to purchase a new sleeve, below are some options.
Laptop Sleeve Bag 15.6 Inch
