Our rising Kindergarten students enjoyed a playdate at the playground with their future Kindergarten teachers!

Bucknell families,

We have enjoyed our time with your children over the last three weeks of summer learning. This week students presented final projects and celebrated their learning successes. We will miss them and can't wait to welcome all students back to school on Monday, August 22nd. Please help us give a huge thank you to all of the staff who supported students this week! They made sure that students were learning at high levels, while being fully engaged and having fun!

Today our rising Kindergarten students participated in a playdate on the playground. They had an opportunity to meet their future teachers and play with one another.  Also, families had an opportunity to build connections as we prepare for the upcoming school year! They had a blast!

Lastly, we are still hiring a few positions for the upcoming school year. We are in need of student monitors (position description below) and dining room assistants. If you, or someone you know, is interested in either position - please email your resume and references to Principal Green at rjgreen1@fcps.edu

Fall Staffing Update

As you will have seen from the superintendent's community message, FCPS is committed to ensuring that we will have a licensed educator in every classroom for the first day of school.

I want to assure you that at Bucknell Elementary School, we are almost fully staffed as we head into the school year. We have plans in place to address any remaining vacancies. These plans are student-centered and designed to meet the needs of all our students.

school immunization

As we begin to look ahead to the 2022-23 school year, I encourage everyone to Be Wise, Immunize! Immunizations are required for public school entry and help keep children protected from many diseases. Many children missed their well check-ups and their recommended childhood immunizations during recent years of disruptions from COVID-19. It is critical to catch up now to keep children healthy and protect them from serious diseases.

I encourage you to check with your healthcare provider to make sure your child is up to date on required immunizations for the 2022-23 school year as soon as possible. If your child needs a vaccine to complete their records, you can make an appointment with your healthcare provider or visit the Fairfax County Health Department website for a schedule of child immunization clinics.

Remember to request documentation of your child’s immunizations and bring that to Bucknell Elementary School as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please contact us at 703-660-2900.
