Stronger Together

new mascotr

Hello students and families! This was the last week of Bridge to K, Young Scholars, SOAR, and PAC summer programs.  We look forward to having all of our students back for the 22-23 school year!  Summer is an exciting time of year at Clearview.  We are working together to prepare for the return of all our students!.

As you will have seen from the superintendent's community message, FCPS is committed to ensuring that we will have a licensed educator in every classroom for the first day of school. We want to assure you that we expect to be fully staffed as we head into the school year.

On Thursday, August 18, Clearview will host a Back-to-School Bonanza.  This event will include orientation for students and families in grades K-6 and representatives from our community who will share resources and information about ways to stay connected, healthy, and safe. We hope to see you there!

Free/Reduced Meals

Families must submit an application and be approved to be eligible for free and reduced-price meals for the 2022-23 school year.

Interested families are encouraged to submit the Free and Reduced-Price Meal application ten days prior to the first day of the 2022-23 school year.

Students approved for Free and Reduced-Price Meals may qualify for additional benefits such as waived or reduced fees for instruments, uniforms, field trips, FCPS class fees, and Parktakes classes. Schools also benefit from funding opportunities based on Free and Reduced Price Meal application numbers.

Learn more about the Free and Reduced-Price Meal program online. If you have questions or need assistance with the Free and Reduced-Price Meals application, please contact the main office at 703-708-6000. We are happy to help.

Immunizations

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, students may have missed their well check-ups and their recommended childhood immunizations.  Be sure to check with your healthcare provider to make sure your child is up to date on required immunizations for the 2022-23 school year before the first day of school.  It is critical to catch up now to keep children healthy and protect them from serious diseases. If your child needs a vaccine to complete their records, you can make an appointment with your healthcare provider or visit the Fairfax County Health Department website for a schedule of child immunization clinics.

Remember to request documentation of your child’s immunizations and bring that to Clearview as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please contact us at 703-708-6000.

Mental Wellness Consultations

Last Day August 5

This summer, the FCPS Office of Intervention and Prevention Services will offer virtual Mental Wellness Consultations through August 5, 2022.  Parents will have an opportunity to schedule an individual 45-minute consultation with a school psychologist or school social worker by phone or videoconference.

This consultation provides an opportunity for parents to receive guidance on how to support their child’s social, emotional, behavioral, and academic success.  Information about community resources will also be provided.

All parents are encouraged to take advantage of this service by clicking here to request a consultation. You may also leave us a message at 703-503-2520.

Registration

Did you know that registering early helps prevent overcrowded classrooms and helps schools hire highly qualified teachers prior to the start of a new school year?

Notice new neighbors moving in this summer?  Please encourage them to complete the online intake form and/or connect with our Student Information Assistant, Nalei Meneses, at (703)708-6002 or ntmeneses@fcps.edu.

Please Enjoy Clearview’s School Grounds

This Summer

Many of you enjoy using school grounds for activities over the summer. Please keep the following in mind:

  • Use is allowed from dawn to 8:30 AM and 1:30 PM to dusk through August 19.
  • Dogs are not permitted on school grounds.
  • Facilities must be shared with anyone else who wishes to use them.
  • Please leave the facilities as you found them. Remove any waste or debris from the property.

Visit our availability webpage for more information on the usage of school grounds and facilities.

Student Rights and Responsibilities

Fairfax County Public Schools' Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R, Regulation 2601) document explains expectations for student behavior and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment. We believe that students learn best when expectations for behavior are clear, consistent,  fair, age appropriate, and build on strong student teacher relationships.

Each year, the SR&R undergoes a review process, and the Fairfax County School Board votes on proposed changes. Cell phone usage has been a popular topic. Key highlights of related changes are below for your convenience:

  • Grades K-8: Phones must be silenced and put away for the duration of the school day.
  • Grades 9-12: Phones must be silenced and put away during all instructional periods.
  • Students are prohibited from using phones, tablets, and other mobile devices in restrooms and locker rooms, unless there is a medical necessity or emergency.
  • Parents/Guardians, multi-disciplinary team members, or other persons with knowledge of students who require access to personally owned devices as an accommodation shall make requests for such accommodations through their respective multi-disciplinary team.
