1. Message from Dr. Floyd

Hello Woodson Community:

I can’t believe it is August.  We have been working on the plans for Cav Kickoff and they are outlined in story #3.  We are excited to kick off this school year and to meet the Class of 2026!  Part of Cav Kickoff is to welcome our new students in grades 9-12 AND their parents.  We will have a parent session in the main gym (Entrance 3) at the same time that we are welcoming our new students.  Please take this time to ask questions, visit teachers and walk the building.  Maps will be available and student leaders will be around the building to help navigate our unique floor plan.

Cav Kickoff is the first part of “Back to School Night.”  This is the time to say hello to teachers, put faces with names and to see the classrooms your child(ren) will be in this year.  The second part of “Back to School Night” will be curriculum videos which will be posted by September 15, 2022.  You’ll be able to access these from our webpage and we will send out notification when it is live.  These videos will give you an idea of what the course content is, class expectations and best methods of communication.

On Monday through e-Notify, I sent all families currently registered at Woodson, information on COVID protocols, changes in the cell phone policy, attendance, food deliveries and reminders about the SR&R dress expectations.  It would have been delivered to the email address that is in SIS ParentVUE. If you did not receive it, please update your SIS ParentVUE account.  We will have assistance for SIS ParentVUE accounts at Cav Kickoff in the main gym, please see us for assistance.

Counselors will return to school Friday, August 5th. They will be busy ensuring all students have 7 classes and a 3rd period, as well as attending several days of professional development. Our counselor contact information can be found on our Student Services site.

Looking forward to seeing our students and families on August 18th at Cav Kickoff!  Please see story #3 below for details!

Enjoy the last couple weeks of summer,

Dr. Floyd
Principal
