Rising 7th Vaccines Due before School Starts!!

The Fairfax County Health Department is urgently requesting that families take immediate action to update immunizations required for their children to attend school in the fall. Failure to do so may impact a student’s ability to enroll.

Rising 7th Grade Students are required to get: Meningococcal Conjugate (MenACWY) Vaccine - The first dose should be administered prior to entering 7th grade, on or after the age of 10. The final dose should be administered prior to entering 12th grade.  TDap Vaccine - Should be administered prior to entering 7th grade, on or after the age of 10.

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccine - A complete series of two doses of HPV vaccine is required for students entering the 7th grade. The first dose shall be administered before the child enters the 7th grade.

Email your Vaccine Record to Tawanna Bates at South County Middle School at tjbates@fcps before August 19th to avoid any delays in starting school on August 22nd.

All students are required to be immunized against certain communicable diseases to attend school in the state of Virginia. It is important for all students to receive the required immunizations.

Please talk with your family health care provider about whether or not your children are up to date on their vaccines before the new school year begins. Submit updated immunization records to your school as soon as possible.

More information on immunization requirements and the necessary documentation is available online

Summer Meal Service

Summer meal kits will be offered on Tuesdays at several sites through August 9. Meal kits contain seven days of breakfast and lunch items packed in bulk. All meals are available at no-cost to FCPS students and children 18 years of age and under. Visit our Meals for Students website for more details on pick up locations and times.

Free and Reduced-Price Meal Applications Available Later This Summer

For the past two years, the federal government has provided no-cost meals to all public school students without the need to complete the annual Free and Reduced-Price Meal application. The extension of the no-cost meals benefit to all students is expected to expire at the end of this school year, meaning families must submit an application and be approved to be eligible for free and reduced-price meals for the 2022-23 school year. Learn more about the Free and Reduced-Price Meal program online.
