Staff and students said good bye to each other on the last day of school. We can't wait to see our Bucknell family again soon!

Bucknell families,

We can't believe that it is already July! Where are has time gone?! It seems like just yesterday we were waving good bye on the last day of school. Some of our youngest Bulldogs, our pre-school friends, are back in the building this week! They're having fun days of learning and connecting with one another.  Our other summer learning programs start Monday, July 11th and we can't wait to see our students back in the building! The halls sure are quiet when they're gone.

Please make sure to read the updates in this newsletter. We have many important announcements and will use this platform to ensure that families get the information.  Our office is open daily from 9:00am - 1:00pm.  Please feel free to stop by if you need anything or have any questions!

Lastly, please make sure to mark your calendars for Back to Bucknell, which will be held the afternoon of Thursday, August 18th! This event will be an opportunity for students and families to meet their teachers, learn what to expect in the new school year, and end in an outside cook out! You don't want to miss our first event of the school year! More info will be coming soon!

Wishing you an amazing rest of your summer! Make sure to rest, recharge, and relax in preparation for next school year.

Sincerely,

Rashida Green, Principal

Tory Swanson, Assistant Principal

school immunization

As we begin to look ahead to the 2022-23 school year, I encourage everyone to Be Wise, Immunize! Immunizations are required for public school entry and help keep children protected from many diseases. Many children missed their well check-ups and their recommended childhood immunizations during recent years of disruptions from COVID-19. It is critical to catch up now to keep children healthy and protect them from serious diseases.

I encourage you to check with your healthcare provider to make sure your child is up to date on required immunizations for the 2022-23 school year as soon as possible. If your child needs a vaccine to complete their records, you can make an appointment with your healthcare provider or visit the Fairfax County Health Department website for a schedule of child immunization clinics.

Remember to request documentation of your child’s immunizations and bring that to Bucknell Elementary School as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please contact us at 703-660-2900.
