Dear Families,
I am writing you this special issue of News You Choose to ensure you have some important information relevant for this summer. If you have a friend or neighbor with a new Cougar, please forward them this email and encourage them to sign up for CWES Weekly Happenings so they don't miss important updates this summer.
I transition to my new role on July 1 but I plan to partner with your new principal once they are announced to ensure a smooth transition for our school community!
It is my greatest hope that your children and families have a joyful summer! I thank you again for your support and partnership as the lucky leader of this amazing school community for the past four school years.
Please tell your children Dr. L will miss them dearly. My six-word story from Sixth Grade Promotion encapsulates my love for students, for our families and for our phenomenal staff:

Your child should have received a copy of the "Tic, Tac, Toe on the Go" board in their final Tuesday folder. You can download another copy here.
Students are encouraged to keep their reading skills sharp this summer at home and on the go. Get Tic Tac Toe with three in a row across, down or diagonally, or complete every activity for a blackout!
Return your Tic, Tac, Toe board to Canterbury Woods Elementary by September 9, 2022 to get a prize.

We know summer has JUST begun, but it's never TOO EARLY to order your school supplies for next year!
For your convenience, the CWES PTA has partnered with EPI to provide school supply kits with everything your child needs! All school supply kits have been carefully crafted by your CWES Grade level teachers!
DON'T DELAY! Supply kits only available for purchase until June 30th!
*All kits will be shipped directly to your home address later this summer.*
Please note that the PTA will be providing disinfecting wipes (to all grades), and other grade-level specific items (i.e. paper towels, Ziploc bags, disinfectant spray) to help lower the costs of supplies for our families.

On Thursday, August 18, your child will have an opportunity to come to CWES, visit their classroom and meet their new teacher. Mark your calendars for this important event: details will follow later this summer.
It is with the utmost sadness that I inform you of the passing of a parent of one of our fourth-grade students, Dr. Andrew John Lock. Dr. Lock passed away suddenly on Friday, June 10 at only 43 years of age.
The Lock family created a memorial website for Dr. Lock and will hold a Celebration of Life Ceremony in Springfield tomorrow.
Please keep the Lock family in your thoughts and prayers during this extraordinarily difficult time.
