Dear Silverbrook Families,

On behalf of the Silverbrook staff we want to thank you for lending your child(ren) to us. We wish each of our students a wonderful and safe summer. We’re looking forward to seeing all of our students in the fall.

 Fresh Face

Our Silverbrook rock has a fresh face. Ms. Lajin and the Art with Heart after school club designed a new look for our rock and students helped paint the base coat. Ms. Lajin continued working on the rock during open times and after school. Thanks Ms. Lajin.

Mindful Moment Recap

On Monday, June 6th, Ethan from Mrs. Goldstrom’s 5th grade class and Dr. Pangelinan co-facilitated the mindful moment.  Ethan shared that 5-finger (or rollercoaster as he likes to call it) is his favorite method of mindful breathing while Dr. Pangelinan used the geosphere as a tool to regulate her breathing.  Silverbrook Seahawks were encouraged to choose their preferred method of breathing; either they followed along Ethan and his rollercoaster breathing or they followed Dr. Pangelinan’s breathing with the geosphere as a visual tool.  Kudos to Ethan for extending this strategy of self-control beyond the walls of our amazing school.

Raashi from Mrs. West’s 5th grade class enlightened students and teachers on Tuesday, June 7th as she shared her perspective on positivity and the possible impact it may have on us, our learning, and our day. Raashi indicated that she created a habit of positivity and allows herself to embrace positive moments of her day.  Here is a short excerpt of Raashi’s paper:

“Positivity is all around you. You just have to recognize it, and it will make your life better. I had always thought that life is a race, but when I saw the true form of positivity, I understood that life is a friendly race.  Without this particular race, nothing would ever be possible. Smile and be positive.”

Thank you Raashi for sharing a splendid perspective of positivity and growth mindset!
