End of Year Message

This year we were so excited to have our Ravens back in the nest with us; in person, 5 days a week! While this year continued to be impacted by COVID, the learning, fun and friendships continued at Ravensworth ES. We were thrilled to bring back our favorite traditions like concerts, an author visit, and field days, along with adding the new tradition of welcoming back our Lake Braddock Seniors. As they walked the halls, our hearts were touched as they looked for their former teachers and gave high fives to their siblings or neighborhood friends. It is a testament to the positive relationships and community at Ravensworth ES. We look forward to what next year will bring.  Please be on the lookout for summer communications. We wish everyone a happy and healthy summer!

Sincerely,

Erika Aspuria and Patrick Bourjaily

Ravensworth Summer Reading

sr

Ravens in Kindergarten through 5th grade:

The library is providing an opportunity for summer reading and other learning activities that you can begin working on after the last day of school.  This is an optional opportunity, but there is an incentive!

If you complete 5 activities in a row, sign the Bingo board, and have your parents sign it and then give it to your teacher or Mrs. Sloan by August 31st, your name will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a Barnes and Noble gift card.  Your name is entered for each row of 5 you complete!  Complete the whole board and your name will be entered 5 times!  The Bingo Card can be printed from the Ravensworth website or picked up from the main office.  Happy summer reading, Ravens!

Free and Reduced-Price Meal Applications and Summer Meals

fee meals fcps

The federal waiver allowing all students to receive free and reduced-price meals is set to expire this summer.

Families must submit an application and be approved to be eligible for free and reduced price meals for SY 22-23. For the past two years, the federal government has provided no-cost meals to all public school students without the need to complete the annual Free and Reduced-Price Meal application. However, the extension of the no-cost meals benefit to all students is expected to expire at the end of this school year. I encourage you to submit the Free and Reduced-Price Meal application prior to the first day of the 22-23 school year. The online application will be available later this summer. Watch your email and our website for more information. Learn more about the Free and Reduced-Price Meal program online.

No-cost summer meals will be served at all FCPS summer school locations this year. Please visit the FCPS website for updated information during the summer.

If you have questions about the Free and Reduced-Price Meals program, the additional benefits your child may receive, or no-cost summer meals, please contact our school 703-426-7000. We are happy to help.
