Principal's Message...

Thank you for an amazing final day of school! Our students were well behaved and excited to tell all of their friends goodbye as we left today. This has been a hard school year for everyone. Your continued support can never be fully understood. We are excited to welcome our rising seventh graders in the fall. More information will be coming out soon about our events. For now you can save the date of Thursday, August 18, in the afternoon for our EagleFest welcome back activities.

Have a wonderful summer!!

Counseling Department Spruced Up with Flags

pic

English for Speaker of Other Languages (ESOL) students decorated the walls of our Counseling department with different flags from around the world to celebrate the diversity at KJMS. These students painted the flags from their home country themselves with the help and guidance of Ms. Tripathi (ESOL Teacher), Ms. Payne (Office Assistant).  It makes our counseling department a more welcoming environment for the new families who come to register at KJMS from another country.

FCPS Summer Learning

A reminder that FCPS Online Campus Summer Courses are open for registration and available to eligible middle school students who meet prerequisites and technical requirements.  Students may take one online course for first time or repeat credit.  Middle school students may not take a mathematics course during the summer as their first high school level mathematics course.  Courses are rigorous; therefore, students should consult their counselor prior to registering.  Program information is available at Summer Learning

Multilingual Parent Podcasts: Making the Transition to Middle School

En Pocas Palabras graphic

Making the move from elementary school to middle school can be both an exciting and unsettling time for a parent and student. In this week’s podcast, hear ways to ease the transition by:

  • Understanding the developmental changes in your child.
  • Getting to know middle school culture.
  • Encouraging independence, but remaining available.
  • Offering emotional support to your child.
  • Reiterating your family values and expectations.
  • Staying involved in your child’s school.

This podcast’s infomercial is about summer camps. It’s not too early to start thinking about summer fun. The FCPS Tech Adventure Camp and the Career and Technical Education Camp are taking registrations for summer 2022.
