freee/reducedmeals

Free and Reduced-Price Meal Applications Due This Summer

For the past two years, the federal government has provided no-cost meals to all public school students without the need to complete the annual Free and Reduced-Price Meal application. The extension of the no-cost meals benefit to all students is expected to expire at the end of this school year, meaning families must submit an application and be approved to be eligible for free and reduced price meals for the 2022-23 school year.

Interested families are encouraged to submit the Free and Reduced-Price Meal application before the first day of the 22-23 school year. The online application will be available later this summer and accessible via the FCPS homepage.

Students approved for Free and Reduced-Price Meals may qualify for additional benefits such as waived or reduced fees for instruments, uniforms, field trips, FCPS class fees, and Parktakes classes.

Summer Meal Service

No-cost summer meals will be served at all FCPS summer school locations this year. Please visit our website for updated information during the summer.

Are you moving?

The school needs to have current addresses for all of our students. If you have moved or are planning to move outside the Weyanoke boundaries before August 19, please call the school office so we can update our records.

PTA News

It's been a great year! We have accomplished all we set out to do this year as a new Board the first year back to in person.  We held our final event of the year June 3rd, Family Fun Night, and it was a HUGE success. We've heard great comments from many attendees and nearly tripled our goal raising over $1,500 toward PTA Programs for next school year. But most importantly we saw a ton of happy faces running around. We hope you had a chance to stop by! Thank you to everyone who played a part, either volunteering or coming and having fun with us.

Help us keep the momentum, please remember to join next year, only $10 for an individual or $15 for a family, both parents and teachers are more than welcome!

Thank you all for your support this year!  We so obviously couldn't have done it without your help and support. Have a wonderful Summer!  Here's to even more fun and educational opportunities for our families to get together in during 2022/2023!

reminder

Our next meeting is the first meeting of the school year. Mark it on your calendar now!

We are making it an ICE CREAM SOCIAL!!!

September 15th 7 to 8pm

Weyanoke Cafeteria

As always, we will have activities for

children and a Spanish translator.

NEEDED: NEW TREASURER – Our former Treasurer is still here for a short time to help onboard his replacement, if you are interested, please jump in fast so we can have an easy start to next year. You’ll be serving only 1/2 of a 2-year term.  Very little work in the Summer, so it's a great time to learn and take it easy before action begins again. You're not only helping the students at the school but it's also great way to learn about running a business, think resume. The role seems daunting, but it is more limited to certain financial deadlines and you are not expected to participate much in activities, so when it comes down to it, it's mostly just collecting, keeping track of, and disbursing funds; and filling out forms every couple of months. But it is a super important position. Please help us fill this absolutely vital role. Please reach out to Julie Grandon 703.606.5383 woodchuckpta.pres@gmail.com

Thank you for your support this year!  Have a wonderful Summer! From the PTA Board
