Image of 6th Celebration

Congratulations 6th Grade!

Oak View had an opportunity to celebrate our 6th graders this past Friday. We had gorgeous weather and a special performance from our 6th grade choir. We know these eagles will continue to soar in their next steps and we were glad for the time they were at Oak View!  Way to go 6th grade!

Library Book Reminder

Oak View reminds all students and families that all library books are past due! Please help us ensure we have all of our books back to turn them around and get them ready for next school year! Thank you for doing one last round of looking around your homes! Your child can find out what books they are missing by looking at their Destiny account. A video on how to do that is here.

Image of free and reduced application

Free and Reduced-Price Meal Applications/Summer Meals

Families must submit an application and be approved to be eligible for free and reduced price meals for SY 22-23. For the past two years, the federal government has provided no-cost meals to all public school students without the need to complete the annual Free and Reduced-Price Meal application. However, the extension of the no-cost meals benefit to all students is expected to expire at the end of this school year.

Oak View encourages you to submit the Free and Reduced-Price Meal application prior to the first day of the 22-23 school year. The online application will be available later this summer. Watch your email and our website for more information. Learn more about the Free and Reduced-Price Meal program online.

No-cost summer meals will be served at all FCPS summer school locations this year. Please visit the FCPS website for updated information during the summer.

Family Return to School Survey

We are interested in hearing about how the 2021-22 school year has gone for students. You have an opportunity to provide your feedback on our Family Return to School Survey which you should have received via email.

The survey is being administered by the FCPS Office of Research and Strategic Improvement, which provides objective research and data-based information back to the school division’s leadership. The survey is part of the office’s continuing evaluation of the pandemic’s impact on our school division.

We encourage all Oak View parents/caregivers to respond to the survey and share their experiences whether positive or negative. The information you and other families provide will be used, along with other data, to inform FCPS leadership about the return to five days a week of in-person instruction, and support FCPS’ efforts to make improvements that support schools, students, and staff. It will also be included in ESSER III reporting.

Daily Symptom Check at Home

Oak View thanks families for their continued diligence in keeping your children home if they are sick or displaying any COVID-like symptoms. We know this is an even bigger challenge during allergy season and appreciate your extra care helping determine between allergies and other symptoms. In addition, please note that if you are awaiting test results, please keep your child home - as noted on the screening questionnaire. One of the most important prevention strategies guidelines is screening students daily for any signs of illness prior to leaving home for school. Any student who is ill or presents with COVID-like symptoms is to remain at home. The daily health screening questionnaire and all translated version can be found on our Health and Safety Guidance document at https://www.fcps.edu/return-school/health-and-safety-guidance-document. This document provides the details of the policies and protocols related to COVID-19, and it is continually updated to align with public health guidance as it evolves during the school year. Daily completion of the health screening is done on an honor basis and does not need to be sent to the school. More information is available here.
