Grades 1-6 participated in our annual Field Day. The beautiful weather made it perfect for playing some of our favorite games. We cooled down with popsicles and plenty of water! Thank you to our wonderful teachers and volunteers for making this a memorable event.
A Note From Mr. Gates
We can see the light at the end of the tunnel – and it isn’t a train getting ready to run us over! Rather it’s the end of an extraordinary school year fast approaching. By many, many measures, this has been an outstanding year. After 15 months of disrupted schooling due to COVID, all students returned to in-person school last fall and have grown academically, emotionally, and socially and can be proud of what they have accomplished.
Things have gone very well this school year to a large measure because of the support and encouragement you give your child at home. Our students routinely come to school ready and prepared to learn. We are blessed to have so many students who have adults in their lives that stimulate and support them in so many positive ways. We are so very thankful of your help and support. When we are successful, we at school know that much of that success is because of the wonderful families at Hollin Meadows. We appreciate what you have done this year to help us do our job at the high level you expect and our children deserve.
Finally, to our families who are departing after this year, we wish you well in your future endeavors and know that, wherever you go and whatever you do, you’ll always be a “Hollin Meadows Hornet.” To our returning families, we look forward to seeing you in August for what promises to be another exciting and rewarding school year. To each of you—we wish you a safe, restful, happy summer vacation.
Have a Great Summer!
Jon Gates, Principal
Free and Reduced-Price Meal Applications/Summer Meals
Families must submit an application and be approved to be eligible for free and reduced price meals for SY 22-23. For the past two years, the federal government has provided no-cost meals to all public school students without the need to complete the annual Free and Reduced-Price Meal application. However, the extension of the no-cost meals benefit to all students is expected to expire at the end of this school year.
Families are encouraged to submit the Free and Reduced-Price Meal application prior to the first day of the 22-23 school year. The online application will be available later this summer. Watch your email and our website for more information. Learn more about the Free and Reduced-Price Meal program online.
No-cost summer meals will be served at all FCPS summer school locations this year. Please visit the FCPS website for updated information during the summer.
If you have questions about the Free and Reduced-Price Meals program, the additional benefits your child may receive, or no-cost summer meals, please contact the school office at 703.718.8300. We are happy to help.
