Public Safety Day Postponed & Summer Resources

Westfield 2022 Graduation

Congratulations to our Westfield graduates and to our LTES students on the completion of a wonderful school year!

Public Safety Day Postponed

Due to possible inclement weather on Saturday, June 11, Public Safety Day has been postponed. We are looking forward to hosting Public Safety Day in the future. Stay tuned.

Student Passwords and Access to Apps over the Summer

Student passwords will not be reset by the county until they return in the fall. This means that ST Math, Imagine Learning, and Pioneer Valley will remain available to students until August. Lexia will be available through July.

To access these applications, students can go to the LTES Student Links page or login via Schoology (lms.fcps.edu). If you have questions about any of these applications, please contact your child’s classroom teacher.

Summer Reading Resources

Please encourage your student to read this summer! There are three factors that motivate people to read for pleasure:

  • Choice: Encourage your child to read whatever they want, whatever interests them, whatever they love!  Want some help with book recommendations?   Explore Find Your Next Book through the Fairfax County Public Library and enjoy a great read.
  • Access: Check out the resources below for access to great books and summer reading programs.  Additionally, the LTES Students Link page has access to great online books through MyOn, Tumblebooks, PebbleGo, and more.
  • Modeling: Read to and with your child, and schedule family reading time so your student sees you reading for pleasure!

Thank you for helping shape your student into a lifelong reader and learner!

Additional Summer Resources

Counselor Corner

It is hard to believe the school year is coming to an end. Our Lions have persevered through challenges, tried new things and grown in their skills and abilities. We are so proud of all the work they have done this year! In our classroom lessons we are reflecting on the year and setting goals for the summer.

The 6th graders are discussing middle school transitions and took a field trip to Stone MS. Sometimes transitions and new experiences can be uneasy, so remember to talk to your student about the new things that might be coming their way and ease any concerns they might have. Change brings growth! As your student enjoys a break, remember to practice these healthy summer habits: Read together; have fun; enjoy some mindful moments; and wear sunscreen.

Happy Summer! ~LTES Counselors
