Stenwood Hive Happenings

Hive Happenings Newsletter

Dear Stenwood Families,

Wow, what an awesome week!  We have not had a Band and Strings concert since 2019 and our musicians surely worked hard and performed an impressive concert last night.  Thank you to our amazing music team: Kim Campbell, Brad Zimmerman, and Marti Fucile for helping to keep our awesome music program alive.  If you were unable to attend, or join live, we recorded it!  Link can be found below.

Today was filled with many parent invite events, we hope you enjoyed having an opportunity for your child to share some of the work they have done this year.

Next week continues to be packed full of fun!  Tuesday, we have our beloved Spring Battle of the Books!  All K-5 end of year parties will be on Wednesday, June 8th.  6th grade will have their celebration on Thursday, June 9th and their promotion ceremony will be Friday, June 10th.

As a reminder, the last day of school, June 10th is a 2 hour early release day.

Medication Pick Up Reminder

If your child has medication in our School Health Room, you will need to pick it up before the end of the day on the last day of school.  If it is not picked up, Mrs. Schall is required to discard it.  Medication cannot be sent home with your child.  If you require Authorization Forms for the 2022-2023 school year, they may be downloaded from the FCPS website at https://www.fcps.edu/resources/student-safety-and-wellness/school-health-services

Free and Reduced-Price Meal Applications Due This Summer

For the past two years, the federal government has provided no-cost meals to all public school students without the need to complete the annual Free and Reduced-Price Meal application.

Free Lunch

The extension of the no-cost meals benefit to all students is expected to expire at the end of this school year, meaning families must submit an application and be approved to be eligible for free and reduced price meals for the 2022-23 school year.

Interested families are encouraged to submit the Free and Reduced-Price Meal application before the first day of the 22-23 school year. The online application will be available later this summer and accessible via the FCPS homepage.

Students approved for Free and Reduced-Price Meals may qualify for additional benefits such as waived or reduced fees for instruments, uniforms, field trips, FCPS class fees, and Parktakes classes.

Summer Meal Service

Energy Zone
