Congratulations to Aasiya J.,6th grader Mustang, for being named the
AAA Honors Outstanding Virginia School Safety Patroller in Fairfax County this school year! As shared by Ms. Luck, Safety Patrol Sponsor,
“She is one patrol that I can always count on if I needed help with anything within the program or at school and am grateful that she takes pride in her position. I wish I had more students like her who take their position as seriously as she does.”
Please join me in congratulating Aasiya on her great achievement!
Field Day is Monday, June 6th! 3rd and 4th grade will enjoy Field Day from 9:25 AM – 11:45 AM. 5th and 6th grade will enjoy it from 12:30 PM – 2:50 PM
There will be many activity stations that children will participate in during Field Day; including some water activities!
Help Your Mustang Be Prepared For Field Day:
- Because the weather will likely be warm, students should wear comfortable and cool clothing.
- Some stations will involve water and students may get wet. If students do not want to get wet, they should notify their teacher and not participate.
- No swimsuits are allowed, but you may bring a change of clothes to change into after your Field Day is over.
- Students must wear sneakers to participate safely. Boots, sandals, flip flops, and Crocs are not allowed to be worn in order to safely participate.
- Hats and visors may be worn for protection from the sun as well as sunscreen. If your Mustang is unable to apply it independently, please apply it at home before they leave for school.
- A water bottle with your Mustang's name on it is encouraged. No glass containers please. A water station will also be available outside, but we will have a limited number of cups.
- Please do not bring juice, soda or any drink other than water as it could attract bees.
- Most importantly, be prepared to have FUN! 😊
If you have any questions, please connect with either Ms. Luck or Ms. Smith, PE Teachers.
Friday, June 10th is the final day of the 21-22 school year. Students will dismiss two hours early; with dismissal beginning at 1:30 PM. Please make sure that your Mustang knows how they will get home on this day if it is different from how they typically go home.
We do expect more walkers and car riders on this day, so please plan to arrive to school a few minutes earlier than normal to greet your Mustang and take some pictures of them on their last day of school.
On this day, your Mustang will bring home their final progress report card; as well as any personal items and/or supplies that were at school.
If you would like to help us bid farewell to our rising 7th grade students, please join us outside of our school at 1:00 PM as they walk the hallways of McNair ES and McNair Upper ES one final time.
The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time 12:30pm on June 10, 2022. Medication left in the health room after that time will be discarded. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student. However, with parent or guardian permission, a high school student may transport over-the-counter medications to and from the school health room.
Medication authorization forms for next school year may be obtained from the school or online at https://www.fcps.edu/resources/student-safety-and-wellness/school-health-services. A medication authorization form is required for any medication, prescription or over-the-counter, to be kept at school. Please be sure medication orders are clear. All information on the form must be completed. Part I must be signed and dated by the parent or guardian. Part II must be signed and dated by your physician. Over-the-counter medication given for headache, muscle pain, orthodontic pain, or menstrual cramps and antibiotic or anti-viral medication do not need a physician signature. More detailed information is available on the back of the medication authorization form.
Over-the-counter medication must be in the original container and clearly labeled by the parent or guardian. All prescription medication, including physician’s samples, must be labeled by the pharmacist or physician. Please make sure that the label clearly states your student’s name, the name of the medication, the dosage of the medication, and the time interval for administration.
If your child will be enrolled in a summer program sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools, your existing long-term medication authorization form(s) may be used for the summer program. Please let the health room know if you would like a copy of the form(s).
Your cooperation will ensure that we can safely give your student his or her medication. If you have any questions, please contact your school health room aide, Youngsin Nam, at 571-982-1710, or your school public health nurse, Nicole Morales, at 703-343-3252.
Families must submit an application and be approved to be eligible for free and reduced price meals for SY 22-23. For the past two years, the federal government has provided no-cost meals to all public school students without the need to complete the annual Free and Reduced-Price Meal application. However, the extension of the no-cost meals benefit to all students is expected to expire at the end of this school year.
You are encouraged to submit the Free and Reduced-Price Meal application prior to the first day of the 22-23 school year. The online application will be available later this summer. Watch your email and our website for more information. Learn more about the Free and Reduced-Price Meal program online.
No-cost summer meals will be served at all FCPS summer school locations this year. Please visit the FCPS website for updated information during the summer.
If you have questions about the Free and Reduced-Price Meals program, the additional benefits your child may receive, or no-cost summer meals, please feel free to call the main office for assistance.
