Note from Dr. Goodloe:

Dear Rocky Run Families and Students,

I cannot believe we are coming down the home stretch of the 21-22 school year.  Our week has been full of learning, celebrations, and fun. We have much more to come next week!

  • Congratulations to all of our 8th graders and the 8th Grade English CT for the Exhibitions of Learning that took place over the past two weeks.  It has been powerful to see students share their reflections on a topic of choice and connections to FCPS Portrait of a Graduate (POG). Check out the feature on our website.
  • May Students of the Month were recognized this week (see below).
  • Our SCA has been busily preparing for our 8th Grade (Rammys) Celebration
  • Kudos to our Civics Department for their recent Shark Tank projects and Mock Trials students have been engaged in
  • It was my pleasure to be a part of the graduation ceremonies for Chantilly High School this week and celebrate the accomplishments of our former Rams.

Farewell to staff leaving RRMS:

We are so grateful for the amazing contributions and impact of the following staff members who will not be returning to Rocky Run MS next school year.  They will be missed!  We will recognize them as a staff at our end of year celebration on the last day of school.  We encourage students and families to reach out to them to say farewell.

Ellen Cheung, Math

Hillary Ford, Orchestra

Daniel Hill, Band

Zack Mondres, HPE

Corey Wetzel, English 7 (Retiring)

Join the RRMS PTA Board:

We are so grateful for the leadership of our PTA Board and the support of our membership.  We need additional volunteers to help lead next year. Please consider joining the board and use the form below to self-nominate or nominate a peer. Nominations are being accepted through June 3.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to me with questions, concerns, or feedback.

Library Updates:  Return Library Books ASAP!

All Library Books Now Due

Please check with your student to make sure they have returned all of their library books. We are still waiting for around 500 books to come back. Students who still have books checked out received an email to their fcpsschools account on Friday morning with the titles of the books still out. Students can also check their library account using these steps:

  • Visit Destiny Discover from any device.
  • Click Login, then Sign In with Google. Choose the fcpsschools account.
  • Click My Stuff and Checkouts from the dropdown menu.

Books can be returned all next week to the library or the blue and yellow mailbox outside the Rocky Run main entrance. If your student cannot find a book or you have questions, please contact Mrs. Grover (ragrover@fcps.edu).

Did You Know? All seventh grade students will have the opportunity to check out books for the summer during the last week of school. However, they need to have a clear account from this school year in order to participate.  Please contact Mrs. Grover if you have any questions. Thank you!

Laptop Collection: June 6-7

FCPS laptop collection will be taking place Monday, June 6th and Tuesday, June 7th during your child’s PE class. Please make sure your child comes to school with their laptop and charger and that they have removed any personal stickers.

Please be aware that students who have not returned or not paid for any outstanding parts will not be issued another laptop.  If the laptop is not paid for, it will become an official student obligation that must be paid.

Please review the  Student Device Guidelines

If you know your child has lost their laptop or charger, you can use MySchoolBucks and pay for them.

The cost of replacement laptop and charger is $481. The cost of a charger is $23. If the laptop does turn up at home after we have collected funds your money will be refunded.

Thank you for your support.

8th Grade Families

Thank you for your generous donations of time and resources for our 8th grade celebration!  We are really excited to celebrate our students this evening.

Expunging High School Credits

High school credit courses taken in grades 7 and 8 become part of the student’s high school transcript and are included in the calculation of the high school Grade Point Average (GPA). VA State and FCPS regulations permit parents/guardians to make a request to have that course expunged from the student’s record.

Please contact your child's school counselor and submit the completed Request to Expunge High School Courses Taken in Middle School Form.

After-School Program

The After-School Program has finished for the school year.  All students should plan on departing at the 2:15 dismissal bell.  Thank you to all students who participated in our program this year!
